Local attractions are Old Santee Canal Park, with boardwalk along the Tail Race Canal. Pinopolis Lock, take your boat through the locks and travel to Charleston via intercoastal waterway. Mepkin Abbey, a working monastery and Cypress Gardens with hiking trails and butterfly house are in the area. Or you can simply stay at the cabin to unwind and relax. The space The Santee Cooper lakes are famous for fresh water fishing. The Pinopolis locks are our favorite. It was the highest single-lift lock in the world at the time of construction in 1934. You can take your boat through the locks, for free, and you will pass Mepkin Abbey on the waterway. It's a beautiful ride. Guest access There is a lock box located on the side door of the house. I will provide the combination a few days before check in. Other things to note If you are bringing a boat, there is a public boat landing at the end of the road. You can launch the boat, drive it around and tie it to the dock for the weekend. Bring the vehicle and trailer back to the house.
