Home comfort in a Vienna suburb
Home comfort in a Vienna suburb
Description
Our family home was built for 5 people in 2007. The children have moved out so we have extra rooms. Our location is ideal for people who like to hike or bicycle in the Vienna Woods or along the Danube River, yet the property is close to the city of Vienna. The space Despite the country atmosphere here at the house, most people's main orientation is Vienna, Austria's capitol. You can drive, bus, bike or hike to the city from here. If you stay for several days, you'll enjoy just kicking back and enjoying the quiet of the Vienna Woods, maybe taking extended walks in any direction to explore the natural beauty of the landscape or the cultivated beauty of the surrounding vineyards. If you like sipping wine and eating home-cooked local dishes, you'll find time stands still at any of the many local "Heuriger" - buffet-style restaurants with mainly outdoor seating, often integrated into the proprietor's own vineyard and orchards. There is always something to do in the yard, whether tending the vegetable garden, managing the shrubs & trees or trimming the lawn. Family and friends visit occasionally, but the place is mostly quiet and we are nestled in very peaceful surroundings. You will hear lawnmowers and other garden tools being used in the neighborhood during dry, warmer days. Nights are still and undisturbed sleep is usually a guarantee. Our home energy system is modern & efficient and the climate in our well-insulated home can be easily controlled to provide ideal conditions year-round. The TV can access about a dozen stations, all German language. There is a DVD player, we have WIFI and several different devices available to access the Internet. Our Netflix subscription ensures that our guests needn't miss any episodes of their favorite series. Guest access You'll use our front door. During your stay We can be available or nearly invisible, whichever your preference. We both like to chat about any topic and have a keen interest in traveling and the adventures of travelers. We are both bilingual English & German speakers, with a smattering of some other languages. Regina is a journalist & publisher. Nick is a teacher, guidance counselor & translator. Other things to note On hot, sunny days during the Summer, we keep the outer shades drawn from dawn to dusk in order to keep the interior cool. There is an awning over the front deck. Smoking is allowed in the kitchen and outdoors. Regina is at her office in Vienna during most weekdays. Nick is semi-retired and is either home or away at any given time. We travel frequently throughout the year, so guests might be alone in the house for days at a time. Arrangements for key pick-ups & drops if neither of us is home are made as needed (our daughter lives in Vienna and helps manage the house when we're away). We keep bees in the upper section of the backyard, well away from the house. We have friendly & vigilant neighbors who look out for one another.
