Amenities include a cosy lounge with wood burner, well equipped kitchen, 4 bedrooms that sleep 8 (1 superking, 2 king and 1 double), 1 main bathroom and a ground floor wet room with shower and handrails. Often referred to as England's last wilderness, our area is a marvellous land of biodiversity. It was Europe's first UNESCO Geopark. Use Camellia Cottage as your base for exploring the many sights that nature has to offer around us. A short drive from the Lake District National Park, perched high up on the border between Cumbria and Northumberland, and within easy access of the beautiful Weardale Valley,Teesdale and Yorkshire. Dog friendly up to 4 dogs allowed (more at owners discretion, message us if you have more). We are incredibly lucky to have a massive 6 acre free dog paddock on our doorstep, about 1 minute walk from the door. Fully enclosed and perfect for reactive dogs. We also have a second dog paddock about 3 minutes walk across the river. Walks from the doorstep abound. The cottage comes with all mod cons including a fridge freezer, washing machine,fully equipped kitchen with Tassimo Coffee machine, Smart TV with Netflix/Prime, modern electric hob and oven. We have a lounge, dining room and open plan kitchen. At the back we have a patio area with BBQ facilities and outdoor dining for spring/summer months. In the front is a fully enclosed and fenced garden suitable for dogs. Guest access Everything. Mi casa es tu casa, as they say in Spanish! Other things to note Camellia Cottage is a charming, traditional countryside retreat, full of character and history—perfect for those seeking an authentic rural experience. Please note that it is not a modern, luxury property; it's an older home with rustic features and occasional quirks, such as the odd cobweb or signs of countryside living. If you're looking for an immaculate, five-star hotel experience, this cottage may not meet your expectations. Instead, Camellia Cottage offers a warm, comfortable base surrounded by nature, ideal for guests who appreciate simplicity, authenticity, and a genuine connection to the countryside. To enjoy the area the most, because we are quite rural and remote, we recommend you bring a car. If in winter, bring your snowboards and skiis. (We are not joking!) Our village enjoys a unique microclimate which means deep snow in winter (we have had 5 white Christmasses and NYs subsequently) and lovely mild summers. If in summer, bring your swimsuits and fishing rods. Waterfalls, rivers, reservoirs and lakes all at your disposal! All season, bring your stargazing equipment for beautiful dark skies! Nature lovers/photographers be prepared to see rabbits, hares, pheasants, grouse, deer, birds of prey and more in the area, so come equipped! Listen out for the first song of the curlew, a refrain that you will become familiar with. And of course the magnificent landscape that is the North Pennines AONB and the surrounding areas such as the Lake District, Northumberland and the Weardale/Teeside Valleys! And if you ever want to reconnect with civilisation, Newcastle is 1 hour away. We provide you with a complimentary starter pack of logs for your first fire **between autumn/ winter** Dogs are welcome but cats are not sadly to a very bad allergy for the owner. Parking is plentiful and free on the roadside.
