Pretty garden annex (architect designed)
Description
Relax in this compact garden room 7 minutes by train away from central London. Shortlisted for an architectural award this concrete and plywood structure is situated at the bottom of a family garden of a victorian house. The space Beautiful, light (bring an eye mask if you are sensitive to early morning sunlight!) and comfortable, you won't feel like you are staying in zone 2 of London, only minutes away from the centre and a short walk into Brixton. . Loughborough Junction train station is only 5 minutes walk away and goes into Blackfriars (7 minutes) Farringdon (13 minutes) and Kings Cross / St Pancras International (18 minutes) among others. Brixton station on the London Underground (Victoria line into Victoria, Oxford Circus etc) is 20 minutes away. Brixton itself is a metropoliton bustling area home to Brixton market village, with plenty of good bars, pop up restaurants and nightlife. There are local shops and easy access to take away food. Access to this cosy architectural award nominated guest house is through the living area of the main bohemian flat on a terrace row, making it very secure as well as peaceful. There is no seperate access. Large skylights and natural materials make the space feel outside inside - you can shower and fall asleep under the stars. A tiny kitchenette, unique bathroom, and polished concrete floor with underfloor heating make this place modern and comfortable. The guest house isn't set up for children but if you have a baby or small child we can provide a travel cot, high chair toys etc. Cats live in the flat and might be curious about guests, so if you are not a cat person or have an allergy maybe this isn't the space for you! We also have a small and curious puppy but he wouldn't be free roaming alone. Please note if you stay midweek there may be a curfew. Guest access The annex and the garden are free to you to use as you like. The flat is for access only (the only way to the garden annex is through the flat) but if you need anything extra for cooking etc please feel free to ask and it's usually fine for you to borrow anything from the main flat kitchen. We just ask that you don't cook anything too wild in the kitchenette (for example tomato sauce) as it is all natural plywood - more of a space for snacking than three course dinners. Other things to note There are open skylights in the roof which give an indoor/outdoor feel, but if you feel you may be bothered by light you might wish to bring eyemasks ! The bed is a sofabed as we use the space in the day when no-one is staying - it is a top-of-the-range bed and we find it very comfortable and firm, but it is not a bed with a 'mattress' per say, details at johnlewis : innovation-living-recast-sofa-bed-with-pocket-sprung-mattress , with a 10cm mattress topper on top :) Sometimes in the winter if the heat is on high, condensation may steam the windows. If you notice this please turn on the dehumidifier under the desk when possible when you go out (it's pretty loud!)
