It features a private terrace embraced with stunning views of the ocean, that of the coconut fringed coast, and that of nearby peninsulas. On any given occasion, you can observe monkeys playing in the Tamarind tree, local birds perched on surrounding trees, as well as parrots and bats flying (EMAIL HIDDEN)e night time, the clear skies make way for thousands of stars to shine bright right above you, while flickers of flying light from fireflies are all around right outside your terrace. On the most elevated position, the suite welcomes the natural sea breeze, along with the terrazzo floors, cooling the room naturally. As such, there is no air-conditioning in the room, but a there is ceiling fan that could be used, if needed, during warmer months. The suite also features a large outdoor sofa to relax, stargaze, read a good book, or to simply meditate with the natural surroundings around you. The balcony is big enough to have a privet dinner for up to 4 people if you wish. A desk is also provided should you wish to do some work while staying with us. We offer free Internet access. An Italian shower with hot and cold water is also available in the suite, along with a comfortable King size bed with mosquito net. One additional single bed could be used comfortably as well. “Fresh” is our in-house restaurant in Little Tamarind, focus on fresh, local ingredients. If you wish to have delicious meals prepared specially for you, our in-house chef will be more than happy to prepare scrumptious dishes. We source our fresh fruits and vegetables from the local Tangalle market while our fresh fish and seafood are sourced from the villages nearby. Breakfast is provided for extra charge. You are welcome to experience our fine dining, different cuisines all meals. If you wish to do some food shopping, the local supermarket is only 4 km away, which is about 7 minutes by Tuk-tuk. A large, weekly market also occurs at the town, where you can shop for mouthwatering local fruit and vegetables and everything under the sun. We currently reside in Colombo but we do visit our Vacation Villa every week or other week. We will be more than happy to meet you and give you advice on all the places to see and adventures to do in Tangalle and the towns nearby. Even when we are not at the holiday place, our team of local and dedicated staff will take very good care of you. Our lovely vacation villa called “Little Tamarind” is located in the heart of one of Tangalle's fishermen's village. It is quite far from the hustle and bustle of the town center, but still near enough to local amenities. There are two main beaches in close proximity, which are the famous [yet not crowded] Silent Beach and the Fishermen's Bay, which is also a great wave surfing spot. Silent Beach is more known and considered to be one of Sri Lanka's most beautiful. However, in some seasons, the seas can be too rough for swimming or lounging around, making Fishermen's Bay a safer option during these instances. The latter is also more quiet. Both beaches are just a short 4 minutes walk away from our holiday place. The people at Tangalle are very friendly, so there's no need to worry about going around. Children will naturally say hello to strangers and villagers will be more than happy to help you if you ask for their assistance. Sri Lankans are quite conservative so please always wrap a towel around you when you head to the beach The fastest and easiest way to get around is to take a taxi from the airport. Via the expressway, the drive is only about 3 hours to reach Tangalle and our place. The taxi fare varies, but typically costs around 16,000 rs. We are 4km west of Tangalle on Galle Road. Should you wish to use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps, search for "Little Tamarind." If you want a more economic alternative to getting to Tangalle, the train, of course, will be your option. However, travel time is longer and certainly less convenient compared to a taxi. From the airport, you'll have to travel one hour to the train station, then travel for 3 hours and 30 minutes to Matara and then, another 40 minutes to get from Matara, which is the closest train station from Tangalle, to reach Little Tamarind. A bus also travels to Tangalle, which is another possible economic option. The bus stand is located in Maharagama or Kaduwela, and takes less than two hours to reach Matara. From Matara the buses are not as convenient ride… yet it will take no more than extra 40 min to arrive to the village where the Vacation Home is located. We can also help to arrange for you an air-conditioned van to pick you up at the airport, with a cost of about 18,000 rs. The train of course will be cheaper. Nevertheless, after a long flight, it might be quite tiring : count 1h to go from the airport to the train station, then 3h30 for the journey and another 40 minutes from Matara (closest train station from Tangalle) to Little Tamarind. The bus through the highway can be a faster option; the bus stand is in Maharagama [ or Kaduwela ] and takes about 1:3/4 hours to Matara and cost about 600 Rs, you'll have to find where to catch it. Outings Our manager will brief you on all the beaches and sites to be visited in the surrounding area: the Mulkirigala Temple and Dondra Lighthouse are half an hour away. The city of Galle and Yalla National Park, less than two hours drive away, are also worth a visit. The manager can help you to arrange the drive for you (by tuk-tuk, scooter or car).
