Copper House is a light, airy, tree-shaded lakefront home. Situated in a private community on a 20 acre lake, this home is a short 15 minute drive to downtown Morgantown and 10 minutes to the I-79 / US-68 interchange. A large 12'x35' deck overlooks the lake in the rear. Ideal area for relaxing or grilling. Please note: we do not allow large parties. Amenities include stackable washer/dryer, propane fireplace, radiant floor in the bathroom, fully equipped kitchen with both Keurig and drip coffee makers. The queen bedroom has a new Sealy, medium firm, plush top mattress. The full-sized bed is also medium firm. The lake is accessible to you for the excellent fishing (catch and release) and kayaking. 2 kayaks and one pedal boat are available to guests when weather permits. 2 adult and 2 child life jackets are also available. Towels, facecloths, and other bathroom amenities are included. Milan Puskar football stadium, Ruby Memorial Hospital, WVU Children's Hospital and West Virginia University are but a short commute away. In the winter, Wisp and Deep Creek Lake Ski Resorts are only about an hour drive. For winter visits we strongly recommend all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicles: we are located above 2000 feet in elevation and often experience far more snowfall than does Morgantown. The Department of Highways is sometimes slow to plow secondary roads such as ours. However, the good part of being at a high elevation is that in the summer we are usually 5 to 10 degrees cooler than in Morgantown. PLEASE NOTE: In rare circumstances, when winter weather makes road conditions extremely hazardous, it may be necessary to cancel reservations due to extenuating circumstances without penalty to our guests. In such cases, we will be in touch with our guests when adverse weather threatens and mutually determine the best course of action for all involved. Guests have access to the entire home except for the basement. Lake access is available for kayaks, pedal boating or fishing. Electric trolling motors on johnboats only, no gas engines are allowed. We have recently added a large dock with a nice bench, perfect for launching kayaks, or just sitting looking out over the lake with your morning coffee. Two kayaks and one four person pedal boat are available for our guests. Should you have any needs or questions, your hosts, Adrienne and Dave are only 2 houses away. We usually touch base via the Airbnb site early in the visit to be sure all is well. And while we love to say " Hi" and get acquainted, we respect our guest's privacy and try not to intrude. Nevertheless, once in a great while a maintenance issue may arise which needs immediate attention. In such cases we keep our guests apprised of the situation as far in advance as possible. Our neighborhood is is situated around a 20 acre lake - the gravel road is a mile all the way around and a lovely place to walk. Sometimes when there are several inches of snow on the ground, some of our neighbors break out their cross-country skis. People who live here range from families with kids in middle and high school, to college professors, carpenters, small-job contractors, business owners and retirees. What we all have in common is a love for the nature on and around the lake. Access to our home is on a one half mile long secondary gravel road. Only 14 houses are around the 20 acre lake and that is surrounded by woods and nature. A quiet, peaceful setting but just a short drive to downtown. There are two convenience stores, and now a Dollar General, within a mile and Walmart, Denny's, Aldi, and Giant Eagle are only about a 10-15 minute drive. FYI, while wine and beer are available at most grocery stores, hard liquor is only available at limited locations in West Virginia (and it is taxed at 6%). The nearest location for liquor is the Giant Eagle, about a 15 minute drive. WV now has Sunday liquor sales. Things to do in and around Morgantown: Browser Search: “Morgantown WV activities”
