No pressure to arrive by a certain time - we leave the key in the door for you let yourselves in whenever it suits. Set in the desirable village of Uplyme, on the East Devon Way. Discover this rural idyll, just a mile from Lyme Regis, famous for its beaches, footpaths and fossil-hunting. Tucked away down a private drive, Lofty Hayes boasts a tranquil yet convenient location, a stroll away from Uplyme Village Green (with shop, pub and tennis court) and 45 minute picturesque walk along River Lym to the seafront. With the East Devon Way on your doorstep, guests have immediate access to a vast array of footpaths and cycle trails - including the Southwest Coast Path - without the need for taking your car out! Lofty Hayes is one of three holiday lets on site. Known affectionately as Lofty, it spans the entire loft space of a stone barn and sits between us and Coombehayes Barn (sleeps 10). With its own private entrance, parking area and outdoor garden terrace, Lofty's internal apex measures 6'4". If you want to holiday with friends, we have another studio on the ground floor - The Garden Studio (sleeps two). Freshly decorated with a breezy, nautical theme and bespoke carpentry, the accommodation comprises a galley kitchen, open plan lounge, large private balcony, separate bedroom with a low, sumptuous, king-size bed and double-ended bath for that added touch of romance. Separate shower room. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to be independent and cater for yourselves - integrated dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave oven, induction hob, slow cooker, small oven/grill and pizza oven. You can choose to eat inside or out - at the breakfast bar by the kitchen, on the large, private sun deck or on the snuggle sofa in front of the TV. From the lounge, guests can step out through the patio doors onto their private balcony and enjoy the garden terrace with fabulous views across the neighbouring countryside and towards Lyme Regis. Here, you can sit and breakfast 'al fresco' or in the evening, relax with a glass of wine, listening to the birds and enjoying this peaceful and special place. From the kitchen window, you benefit from views over our gorgeous courtyard garden and sounds of gentle running water from our fountain. Lots of lovely walks from the door step: The East Devon Way is just at the bottom of our driveway. It takes about 45 minutes to walk to Lyme Regis and the seafront along the pretty River Lym (much better than going along the road!). Turn right at the end of the drive and within minutes you reach Prescott Pinetum, a beautiful wooded walk with some ancient trees. This leads to Trinity Hill nature reserve with an array of pathways and cycle trails. Our favourite walk is at Ware (a 5 minute drive under the viaduct). From here you connect with the South West coast path where you can go right on the Undercliffes path to Seaton or left towards Lyme and down steps through the woods to reach Monmouth Beach and to walk along the Cobb, the wall surrounding 13th century harbour. Within a 15 minute drive of Lofty Hayes, you can join the South West Coast Path at Charmouth and climb Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast. Alternatively, enjoy bird-watching in Seaton Wetlands with its 4km of level trails and boardwalk through beautiful marshland and reed beds along the River Axe. As well as walking, there’s a vast array of other activities to keep you entertained during your stay - all within 15 minutes’ drive: - Horseriding at Woodhouse Stables - Paddle boarding - paddle board rental and lessons at Boylos on Marine Parade in Lyme - Kayaking - hire kayaks at The Tackle Box on Marine Parade - Nordic Walking with local expert Gillian Butcher - Tennis by the village hall in Uplyme – just a few minutes walk away - Fossil hunting – on Back beach or Monmouth Beach - do it yourself or hire a guide. - Rib Rides – cruise along the Jurassic World Heritage Coast to Beer Head and back - Deep sea fishing - fish for mackerel with Harry May Boat Trips - Shooting at The Tunnel, the UK’a premier shooting centre - Seaton Tramway - three miles of beautiful countryside along the Axe Valley. - Crazy Golf - Langmoor Gardens, Lyme Regis - Birdwatching at Seaton Wetlands - nearly 4km of level trails and boardwalk through beautiful marshland and reed beds alongside the river Axe When It comes to eating, we are spoilt for choice with a splendid array of restaurants. We are just a few minutes away from River Cottage, HQ of celebrity chef, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Swim, The Lyme Bay or Pilot Boat are just a few eateries to be recommended along the seafront. Relax with a cream tea in the beautiful garden at the Alexandra Hotel or enjoy a traditional pub meal at The Talbot Arms just down the road in Uplyme. We are an eco-friendly business, with solar panels and an efficient wood pellet boiler. We make it easy for our guests to recycle. We use eco-friendly cleaning products, refillable soap dispensers and limit the use of tumble driers - without compromising the comfort of our guests. It is possible to leave your car and walk or cycle to the seafront and other local attractions. Guest access Our guests each have their own dedicated parking space and private entrance with covered porch area. Lofty Hayes neighbours our family home, but is detached from it. We leave the apartment unlocked and for you to arrive at your leisure. If you need anything, you just need to message us and we will do our best to help. Other things to note Guests pay less the longer they stay. We offer 5% discount on 4+ night bookings and 10% on 7+ nights. There is normally a minimum stay of 2 nights but we will offer a 1 night stay if we have that gap between bookings. Lofty Hayes is fully equipped to cater for yourselves. Guests bring their own food although we leave some ingredients for a perfect, country breakfast - fresh free range eggs, tea, coffee, milk etc Lofty Hayes has sloping ceilings, with apex measuring 6'4". We have two apartments on site, each providing unique and well-appointed, self-catering accommodation for two people. For those trying to choose between The Garden Studio (‘Idyllic Garden Studio’) and Lofty Hayes (‘Romantic rural hideaway’), here are the differences between the two: - Lofty Hayes is twice the size of The Garden Studio, with separate bedroom but with sloping ceilings. - Regarding kitchen facilities, both have a hob, fridge, microwave, oven/grill, slow cooker and fridge with freezer compartment. Lofty Hayes has the added luxury of a dishwasher! - Both studios have a his/hers bath and separate walk-in shower. - Both properties have their own outdoor space and private access. Whilst The Garden Studio opens out onto our pretty courtyard garden, Lofty Hayes has triple aspect, far-reaching views, across the garden to the countryside beyond and towards the seaside town of Lyme Regis.
