Charming South Pool cottage, South Devon

Beautifully renovated Devon cottage, open plan design, filled with natural light yet cosy and snug. Nestled in the heart of the not-so-sleepy South Devon village of South Pool, a bounce away from big sandy beaches, bustling market towns, sweeping landscapes and craggy coastal paths. Perfect home from home for adventurer families..with an award winning cosy village pub just a stumble away.... The space The open plan living space has been designed to maximise Devon charm and the modern family holiday. The cottage houses a fully fitted kitchen, dining room with extendable oak refectory table. An informal seating area to yarn with those cooking or ogle the view out to the terrace and the South Pool stream. A small 'utility room' is an ideal drying area after a day on the beach with washer dryer. The cosy sitting room has a comforting and modern woodburner and generous throws to curl up under on big sofas, one of which is a made to measure double sofa bed and is actually comfortable. Upstairs offers a bedroom with adult size bunk beds and a ‘pull out' under bed so that three can sleep comfortably. A stylish and modern porcelain tiled shower / bathroom comes complete with a very green and private countryside view. The Master bedroom has a very good Kingsize bed and a fitted cupboard for hanging clothes and chest of drawers and 'old school' under the window long radiators for extra winter warmth. Outside is a large, tiled back terrace with simple flower beds and for those old enough, a step down to the stream for a paddle. The terrace provides a wonderful spot to gaze across the old South Pool orchard in the morning sunshine with the babbling stream for company, or by night gaze at our quite extraordinary canopy of South Pool stars while keeping warm around a modern free standing log burner. Please be aware that if you have small children they will need to be supervised on the terrace as there is a drop down to the stream. Guest access The back terrace is yours to soak up the sound of the creek and the birdlife. Outside furniture and a chiminea perfect for lazy breakfasts, star gazing and marshmallow toasting and has a step down to the stream where children often play while a beer is being supped. To protect against flood risk we have not installed a wall here so please be conscious before you book that from the back terrace there is a drop to the stream of about 1 metre. So young children must be supervised while outside. Older children enjoy building little dams and stepping stones here but of course accessing the stream is entirely at your own risk. Other things to note South Pool is a fantastic, quirky village community with Magnolia Cottage nestling at its heart, beside a creek teeming with wildlife. Booking with us is perfect for couples, families keen on the seaside and real lovers of the English coastal adventure. Those with a penchant for great local food will also be delighted as Devon is so proud of its locally made, grown food and wine with a vast number of producers Devon wide.
