When you arrive at the Flower Farm Loft you're greeted by our dogs, who will likely jump on you with muddy paws and request fetch and pets. You're immediately surrounded by flowers in our gardens and flower studio. The loft has big east facing windows that look over our farm and surrounding fields. You'll open the curtains in the morning to incredible sunrises over Kilkenny Cove, and end your nights at your private fire pit with immaculate star filled skies that will make it hard to go inside. The loft is on the second story of our shop. Downstairs in the shop you'll have your own laundry machines and supplies, this room doubles as our flower studio where we hang thousands of dried flowers. The loft has a locked door in the shop that opens into a little foyer, where you can take off your shoes and coat before coming up the stairs. This is also where we keep beach chairs and a picnic basket for you to use during your stay. At the top of the stairs is a writing desk, where you'll find a booklet with all of our food and adventure recommendations. There's also a guest book where you can check out our previous guest's recommendations, there's so much great info here, and we hope you'll contribute your favorite things as well. The bed is a comfy queen size bed with way too many pillows, and a bench which stores extra linens in case you're using the futon. There's a dresser, where you'll find a few extras like beach towels and sunscreen. The TV is already logged in to our streaming accounts like Netflix, HBOMax and Hulu, so you can jump right into shows and movies. There is a simple bathroom with a standup shower, stocked with many toiletries you might need. We keep our kitchen ready for action, with a gas stove, and anything you'd need to cook a great homemade meal. The loft is often stocked with fresh flowers when in season. We try to keep this space super homey with some of our vintage finds, plush linens, family heirlooms and unique artwork. The loft has it's own garden behind the shop, with a private fire pit. Throughout the property there are tables, chairs and benches, each offering a different perspective of the farm. Guests are welcome to use our grill, we even have a lobster pot and cooker for boiling lobsters or steaming clams outdoors. At the end of our property by our garden crew parking area is a small peat bog and a frog pond, with a sitting bench for watching sunsets. While our house is right next door to the shop and loft, you'll have a lot of privacy. We tend to keep to ourselves unless we're outside doing chores. You are welcome to roam about the property and greenhouse to see what's going on. We generally welcome guests to pick from our vegetables, but we do ask that you don't cut flowers without our permission. You may see us out and about in the field or in passing, feel free to say hi! We try to give our guests space and privacy. We’re here if you need us and are happy to provide recommendations for the area and answer any questions you may have. Our farm is located just up the road from beautiful Mud Creek, a tidal mud flat that twists through beautiful hay fields, where you can find a massive nest that homes a family of Osprey through the warmer months. Our neighborhood used to be cow pastures, so there's lots of open fields, with most of our neighbors each having their own acreage our area can feel quiet and private in the evenings. During haying season you might see horses mowing, rolls of hay sitting in fresh cut fields, and groups of geese feeding in newly exposed grass. Our property neighbors Kilkenny Cove and you can see glimpses of the ocean. There is a private road that runs down the side of our property and brings you right down to the salt water. Please respect our neighbors property and remain on the road if you choose to venture down. Most destinations are within a 30 minute drive. We are also about 15 minutes away from the Island Explorer bus station, which is an optimal way to visit the island and Acadia without dealing with the complexities of parking. Most parking lots on the island are overflowing during peak season. If you wish to visit Cadillac Mountain parking requires a reservation. We highly recommend using the bus service for ease of getting around and for our environment!
