Bird Rock Warrior Studio 3 feet to Ocean Park
Description
Sunsets are a magnet from the pocket park next door: make sure to scramble down the park path to the tide pools below. Your suite has a patio for dining and storing surfboards, bike rentals and restaurants and coffee shops 3 minutes away. Night life on Garnet is wild. Occasionally there's noisy work on the house for which we'll agree on a daily discount. The Studio is a fine place to work at the desk, or borrow a rice cooker and make dinner. Or listen to Mongolian chant. Your choice! The space The Studio enjoys a living canvas of surfers, kiteboards, pelicans and rascally crows all seen from the pocket park ten feet from your door. The Studio is your private part of an iconic 4500 sq. ft house in La Jolla on the ocean where you have a private gate, a patio with dining, and locks for surfboards and bicycles. If you need your own view to watch whales and pelicans, upgrade to our Merman suite which has 600 sq ft of oceanfront patio, floor to ceiling sliding doors, with dining facilities and a 740 sq. ft interior. Our dog occasionally barks. You might hear barking from the park. Or leaf blowing noises. From the interconnecting door you might hear voices in the Host's house. Wayfarers bakery is one block away with world class pastries. Your place has a small refrigerator and a picnic chest for storage of food, an espresso machine and a milk frother to make lattes - call us if you want to borrow the panini press to cook breakfast or lunch (outside only)- ask us for recipes. There is no outdoor sink to wash your dishes so please use the paper plates we provide. Our vanities have small drains and clog up: so if you use them to push baked beans or smashed cucumbers down the drain, we will have to charge you the $400 plumber's bill. The Warrior Suite is our only listing that accommodates a visiting dog but we charge an additional $50 a night for the ridiculous amount of cleaning we are required to do. We can't take cats or birds -- or "companion pigs!!" - or ostriches -- because of people's allergies. Please understand: no one likes the scent of a cat box and the park's dogs will resent any unleashed companion piggies.!!! Every Monday and Friday morning we have someone come over to water the plants. One guest recently complained to us that there was “stomping” in the room above. It’s a little odd when you figure that the only person above is an 85 year old small woman who might walk around in that room for about 20 minutes a day. In any event, we give you a white noise baffling device. The adjoining service door has been insulated. Sometimes the Host might laugh aloud at something she reads. Or perhaps she sings along with Aretha Franklin on the Alexa. And there’s a housekeeper. So, if there’s a small amount of noise here, it’s not exactly like having a ten story building deconstructed next door, or having folk chase each other with knives. The studio is about 264 Sf plus 120 Sf outside. The same size room in the La Valencia Hotel La Jolla might run $700 per night without a jolly park next door for picnics and sunbathing. There's a rough path down to the stony rocks and tidepools in the park and it's fun to explore. You can sign up for night diving, maybe, or go out and photograph frilly sea slugs. You could catch a ride on a sailboat. or you could sit here in your studio and ponder life and its challenges. You should bring whatever you like in your coffee -- but please never rinse out any food scraps into our sinks -- just scrape your plate into the trash bin. If you gum up our plumbing with vegetables, etc. so sadly we would have to charge you. Guest access There are plenty of street parking. The driveway is used for the Tesla which lives on the premise. Please do not park on the driveway. If you arrive with very low battery in your Tesla, you can use host’s Tesla charger to charge your car for a couple of hours. The closest supercharger is about 2 miles away. Other things to note Host has a dog that will bark nonstop if guests have a pet. Occasionally, someone will be watering plants with a hose. Maybe Host's gaze will laugh loudly. Or guest grand children might play hide and seek. So don't expect the silence and privacy of a Zen retreat! Registration Details STR-02206L, 600902
