In summer, we live most of the time outside: from breakfast to dinner around the fire pit. - Table/trestles/BBQ grills/darts game are in the shed next to the barbecue and bread oven. Don't forget to take out the 2 hammocks and outdoor blankets, it's a great place for naps where you'll feel like you're at the end of the world - a swing frame with 2 swings - a sandbox, Tarzan rope and a cabin to be consolidated in the woods - a petanque court - possibility of lighting it at night - possibility of campfires with the brazier (only if there is no wind and install it at least 4 meters from the house). The risk of fire in this area is real. We'll let you restock your dead wood. Guest access Before you decide, check to make sure the style of the sheepfold suits you: - We deliberately wanted to keep the simple and authentic character of this sheepfold. Although it is well equipped with heaters, appliances and board games, it has been furnished and equipped over time through donations from our families, friends or flea market purchases. Hence its slightly vintage and timeless appearance. - In some rooms, the floor in large basic planks is vintage as well as the floor of the living room is still in concrete in places a little worn, there is no tiled outdoor terrace or shelter but only grass (heeled shoes not recommended)… Also if you are looking for modern and trendy accommodation, you may not appreciate your stay too much. - Grimpeloup is 750 m above sea level on the north Ardèche side, so remember to always bring a good sweater, anorak/hat/gloves as well as good shoes for walking - from October to April, you will need to reload the pellet stove every 24 hours. In the sheepfold, there is an oil stove, the operation of which will be explained to you upon your arrival, and for warmth, a central fireplace, wood-burning stove. - with the climatic hazards, you can encounter snow. It is also better that at least one vehicle is equipped as if going skiing (snow tires and/or chains). - Here nature is king and it resumes its rights as soon as we leave it. You will come across a multitude of insects, see here and there holes of field mice and moles and maybe even a few deer or foxes. - The first neighbor is a 15-minute walk away. Hence this impression of the end of the world and without risk of disturbing the neighbors. - The flowing water is the water from the spring that all the locals drink. Taste it, just to see, it's delicious. But if you prefer, bring your bottles of mineral water (we generally count 2 liters per day per person, including hot drinks) - To access Grimpeloup, you have to follow an unpaved forest road that climbs steadily for 1.4 km. All our friends and other travelers for 4 years, have been able to reach our house BUT on one condition: STAY IN 1st gear and follow the signs! - We do not allow any motorized vehicles to pass through the property but mountain bikers, walkers and horses can pass and greet you. We're counting on your courtesy. - The wifi in the sheepfold is not always very fast, it is better to surf in the old house (an ethernet cable can allow teleworking) - the garden furniture is also deliberately in a simple and country style: the 2 large tables are boards with trestles and for large tables we use the benches - So, do you want to spend some time in our sheepfold? Other things to note / Checklist before you go Essentials: - Basic products (salt, pepper, oil, homemade vinegar...) can be used and replaced when they are well used.
