Description

Enjoy your visit to St. Louis by staying in the Soulard neighborhood. Soulard is located just South of downtown St. Louis and offers various bars and restaurants that are within walking distance; many of which offer free shuttles to sporting events (Cardinals and Blues games) in addition to other downtown events. The space My 1 bedroom is in a central location within a short walk of a grocery store, Walgreens, local farmers market, and the bars/restaurants in Soulard. It's also located along the historic Route 66 highway which extend from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA. The apartment has a fairly standard layout for a 1 Bdrm Soulard apartment with the living space and kitchen separated from the bedroom and bathroom by a long hallway. It conveniently separates the two spaces to reduce noise in the event multiple people are occupying the apartment. The living space has a vintage vinyl chair and a sofa sleeper. The vinyl chair needs to be refurbished a bit but it is one of the most comfortable chair on which I have ever sat. The sofa sleeper easily converts to a bed. Just slide the coffee table toward the TV, pull the seat section forward using the handle in the middle below the seat cushion, remove the linens and pillows from the hidden stow area below the seat, pull forward on top of the backrest, prep the bed and you are ready to sleep. There is a small entertainment system in the living room. It has a hulu smart TV, a Visio bluetooth enabled surround sound system, DirecTv DVR receiver with premium package that includes access to a multitude of channels (standard, premium and all movie channels), and an Xbox one (lame to some, sufficient to others). Unfortunately I don't have a universal remote so the three remotes will be on the coffee table. You are welcome to record your favorite show(s) on the DVR if you would like. Please don't order any Pay Per View movies without consulting me first (thanks in advance). The TV is linked to my Amazon Prime Movie and Netflix account in addition to other content. The TV is also on a articulating mount that pulls out about 2 feet from the wall if you are casting your phone or computer to it and need a closer view. There is a bluetooth button on the sound bar in order to pair your device to it... best to consult the web or youtube for full pairing instructions. There are games for the Xbox in the white stow cube in the coffee table. In addition the Xbox can serve as a DVD player. There is a Red Box movie rental located a block away in front of the Walgreens. Behind the sofa in the living space is a small work table perfect for a laptop. If you articulate the TV mount out from the wall and sit at the desk you can cast your computer to the TV to make a good impromptu workspace... either that or just sit on the couch. Next to the desk is a raised dining table that accommodates two people seated. The kitchen is a galley style and has the essentials you will need to prepare a meal. The pots and pans can be found in the lower cabinet to the left of the stove. Various type of drinking glasses can be found in the upper cabinet to the left of the stove. Utensils can be found in the pull out drawer to the left of the stove. Dishes can be found in the upper cabinet to the right of the stove. The ice machine has been acting up lately and may not be creating ice. The dishwasher at the moment serves as a drying rack and needs to be replaced. The bedroom has a queen size adjustable bed. The remote can be found on the night stand. The bathroom is accessed from the bedroom. The place will comfortably sleep 4 people. The couch in the bedroom at the foot of the bed could accommodate an additional guest in a pinch. The apartment resides on the 1st floor in a 4 family building that was built in the 1880s (no ghosts to my knowledge). The building has been recently rehabbed. Access to the apartment is at the back of the building up a short flight of stairs. There is a front door to the apartment but due the lack of street parking out in front of the building the front door has minimal use. Parking is available on a well lit street (Tucker St.) just up the block or in the alley behind the building by the white Ford pickup truck(it's safe, I've lived here for 17 years and I'm not some dumbo). Please consult the parking guidance image provided in the listing photos. The building resides on a quiet block isolated from the rest of the Soulard madness. There are a few vacant buildings across the street that are part of a failed development plan during the last housing crisis. Most were purchased by the City of St. Louis land acquisition department in preparation of sale to the developer. Unfortunately these buildings are awaiting a new development plan and make the area look shabby. Please G00gle Maps Street View the intersection of Tucker and Soulard (the closest intersection to the building) to see if it meets your sensibilities. I'd prefer you not book my apartment if you are going to give me a negative location review. Again the area is safe and I would have moved long ago had I believed it wasn't. Guest access You have full access to all the amenities the house has to offer. Make yourself at home. Other things to note The rental is located in a 4 family building. The other folks in the building are younger professionals. Guests are responsible for cleaning up after themselves. The nominal cleaning fee is meant to compensate for the laundry and tidying up the apartment. Guest are requested to do rinse their dishes and place them in the dishwasher, sweep up the apartment if staying with a pet, and ensure the bathroom is in a clean state for the next guest.
