The Nest at Hurunui Jacks (outdoor bath & firepit)

So much more than a place to sleep - toast marshmallows around a private fire, take a bike on the West Coast Wilderness trail, kayak on our little lake! The Nest is a stand alone self contained unit with outdoor bath/shower, close to but separate from the main house. Set on 15 acres of private land, Hurunui Jacks has the Nest and a glamping tent nestled in beautiful West Coast native bush. A small private lake, historic water race & the Kaniere River are on your doorstep. The space Located close (but seperate) to the main house, the Nest is your own fully self contained slice of the property during your stay. This is not your typical Airbnb! Our small lake and a private fire pit are just steps from your door. You can take advantage of the lake with our kayaks, and can spend the evening toasting marshmallows by the fire pit. Please check the house rules before booking - we can't accommodate infants or children in the Nest. We provide complimentary continental breakfast supplies as well as fresh coffee, roasted on site. Please tell us when you book if you have dietary requirements so that we can try to accommodate them. We can't promise we'll be able to accommodate any specific requests. Inside the Nest you will find everything you need for cooking, including hotplates, microwave, fridge, pots, pans, bowls, plates, cutlery, and some essential basics (oil, salt, pepper etc). There is also a BBQ/grill available on request. The main room of the Nest has a queen bed, breakfast bar, and space to hang your clothes. The toilet and hand basin are inside the Nest, while the shower/bath is outside behind the unit in a completely private area. Enjoy soaking in the tub with a glass of wine, while under the stars and surrounded by nature. We live out of town in a beautiful remote landscape, unfortunately this means that our internet can be patchy. We have WiFi from the main house to the Nest but we wouldn't recommend relying on it for important video calls or heavy streaming. We highly recommend checking out the surrounding area during your stay. There are many great bush walks around, and we are lucky enough to be located right on the West Coast Wilderness Cycle Trail. Lake Kaniere is a 45-60 minute bike ride from Hurunui Jacks, and we have 2 standard bikes available on site for our guests to use, so you can enjoy a slice of the trail, with the picturesque lake at the end as your reward. Get in touch with Cycle Journeys if you'd like to hire an e-bike. Being on the West Coast, we are home to quite a few native birds. You’re likely to see Weka, Pukeko, Robins, Bell birds, Tom Tits, Tui and Swallows during your stay (to name a few!). On the property we also have our own animals, two cats (Gracie and Max), a goat (Biddy), and three white ducks. Check in is available after 2pm. Check out is 10am. *We have lowered our price to reflect that Airbnb is now collecting GST* Guest access We may have other guests on site by the river (we have a glamping tent at Hurunui Jacks as well, as shown on our website), so at times there may be some restrictions on our bush walk to ensure all guests have total privacy. Parking right outside the Nest. The access to our property is not well suited for large campervans. The driveway and parking is narrow.
