The space Located on the majestic red gum lined tributary of the Naracoorte Creek, this beautiful elevated property is easy to settle in to from the time you arrive. “Karinya” is the aboriginal name for"peaceful place" and our family home brings justice to its name. A stunning property to relax and unwind from a busy life, and enjoy the serenity of the bird life existing in the surrounding blooming gardens. Naracoorte is located 350km south east of Adelaide. There are plenty of attractions and things to do for all ages and interests. Only 20 minutes from the coonawarra wine region, there are always plenty of wine tours and tastings to attend. For the children, Naracoorte has a beautiful swimming lake located in the town. Of course, the biggest attraction Naracoorte is known for is its spectacular caves - a great attraction for all ages. If you're more on the active side, the Naracoorte Golf Club provides a stunning golf course and a great social environment. Of course if you're an adventurous soul, you would love the wetlands called "Bool Lagoon" - beautiful at sunrise/sunset and refreshing scenery. The township of Naracoorte is a friendly and welcoming community. With three hotels - one newly renovated and modern cuisine 'The Kingcraig Hotel" as well as various festivities such as "Taste Festival" and the Naracoorte races throughout the year, there are plenty of social events. Surrounding towns such as Mount Gambier, Penola, Robe Beach also provide fun things to do such as shopping, swimming, food and wine attractions and four-wheel-driving tracks. The property is perfectly appointed for couples looking for a retreat, older families to enjoy quality time or visiting friends and relatives, or executives seeking a relaxed environment at the end of the day. The house consists of a large open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area. The lounge area is fitted with a large flat screen TV complete with Apple TV for movies and media, an L shaped lounge, a good quality stereo system with outdoor speakers. The large colonial style windows open up to peaceful views of the gardens and creek beds which wrap around the property. Twin colonial doors open out from the living area to the patio which facilitates a quality BBQ and a large square outdoor setting, able to seat up to 12 people. The Kitchen is equipped with an island bench, providing interaction during inspired creative cook-ups with good quality appliances, a dishwasher, a gas hotplate, a fridge, an oven and microwave. Essential herbs, spices and sauces are stocked in the pantry. Sleeping capabilities at Karinya include the option of 5 bedrooms, all located across the southern side of the house, three bedrooms fitted with queen size beds and two bedrooms with two single beds. As the property is rurally located with livestock and dams in the immediate vicinity, Karinya is not set up for kids under 10 unless strictly supervised by parents. Please note, swimming in the dam is not recommended and if ignored, is at own risk. The master bedroom has it’s own ensuite facilities as well as a walk in robe. The main bathroom includes a bath and is shared for the other bedrooms. Verandahs surround the house shading all rooms and a reverse cycle air conditioner heats and cools the main lounge/dining and kitchen areas. All bedrooms contain ceiling fans. The laundry includes a front load washing machine and dryer, ample bench space and sink. Water is supplied by a 10000gallon rainwater tank which is sufficient all year round. However, we ask that guests use water conservatively to ensure the supply is capable of lasting. Cleaning is included in the price, but as with any privately owned premises we ask that the guests leave the place as they found it. Cleaning equipment is provided in the laundry cupboard. The premises are used on other occasions for business and our own private home when staying in the region so we ask that guests treat the place with respect. The combustion fire is available for use during the winter with supplied fire wood. It is very efficient and will heat the whole living room area. The gardens are watered by an automatic watering system daily during the summer months. The controllers are located in the shed which is not accessible. During the summer months the fruit trees will bear, and these consist of an apple tree, plums, nectarines and pomegranates. Guests are welcome to the fruit if it is in season. Guest access Guests have access to the main areas of the house. However, there is one section of the house (labelled in the floor plan) that is kept private as well as the main shed which guests will not have access to. The rest of the property is completely open to guests. Breakfast will be provided for the first two mornings. Option of bacon and fresh free range eggs or continental breakfast. All local produce including Mahalia coffee. Towels and linen is provided. Other things to note The Apple TV is available free of charge, which is great for playing music and other content from your Apple device. You will need to enter your own iTunes username and password to watch movies Other things to do while staying at Karinya: There is a golf green set up at the bottom of the property which is available to use - golf clubs and golf balls will be accessible to guests. Fishing rods and Yabbie nets are also accessible to use in the dam for fun only - Yabbies and Fish must be thrown back after catching (unless told otherwise).
