The Flowerbed Shed
Description
Wonderfully light and spacious, surrounded by greenery, the flowerbed shed is out of the ordinary. With comfy bed, kitchen essentials, en suite outdoor shower (hot!) and composting toilet, it's a charming retreat just 7 miles from Oxford . The space You have sole use of the space, with a grassy seating area to the side. A veranda faces the small chicken orchard, upper garden and main house, here you can soak up the last rays of the evening sun. Cooking facilities include a double electric hob, electric kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge. ( There is a sink unit with a cold tap, but hot water for washing up is either from the shower, or the kettle) Kitchen essentials are provided along with supplies for a light breakfast on your first morning (milk, bread, butter...etc) The 'outdoor bathroom' is en suite and quite unique. Although sheltered, it is partially open to one side giving you a fantastic view of the field when you take a shower. A composting toilet is beyond the shower, ultimately providing wonderful nutrients for my flower garden! The bed is a comfortable double, there is a sofa, a comfy chair and plenty of table space. Guests are welcome to use the washing machine which is situated in an outbuilding, for a small additional (£5) charge. The shed is often used as an art studio and is exceptionally light with direct afternoon sunshine in the summer. There is wifi which is an extension from the main house. It works well and we have had many guests use it to work from the flower bed shed. Having said this all technology can have temperamental moments :) Guest access Guests can park off road by the main house ( there is one designated space) and make their way through the garden to the Flowerbed shed. You are also welcome to enjoy other parts of the garden and sample surplus produce from the veggy patch and eggs from the chickens. ( Hens are often loose in the garden but they can be penned if you don't like birds! ) We have a lovely, rescue dog, Coco. She is well behaved and quiet. She doesn't jump up and doesn't go into the Flowerbed Shed....but If you are nervous of dogs please just let us know in advance. Check in is between 4pm and 8pm and check out 11am....however we are flexible with theses times whenever possible. Other things to note The closest shops are Lidl, Tesco & Sainsburys which are a 5 - 10 minute drive away. From the shed (and the shower!) it's common to see deer, fox, rabbits, pheasants and barn owls in the field. Our bantam hens are often roaming in the garden…following us around as we dig and weed. You are likely to enjoy long periods of listening to the natural sounds of the countryside….but also, as you might expect, the occasional sounds of garden maintenance, as we and our neighbours, tend our lawns and hedges! In May and late September it can be quite chilly as there is no heating in the shed so please bring warm clothes!
