Description
A beautiful haven, lost in the woods, found by the sea, surrounded by quiet - the WilderGarden Covehouse is a beguiling retreat for those looking for ... something else. Close to parks, on Galloping Goose trail. Walk to pub or bus stop, 12 min to Sooke, 45 min to Victoria, ferry. Sheltered from storms, on a private cove, the Covehouse has a cedar and glass deck, BBQ, dock, hot tub with view, ocean access. Ideal for 1-2 couples, cyclists, paddlers, nature lovers, families, or business. The space WilderGarden maintains very high standards of care and hygiene for your health, safety and protection. And NO cleaning fees. Up to 4 registered guests allowed on the property at any time. The Covehouse is a uniquely designed 1000+ sq-ft cottage - an octagonal structure with a lodge-pole ceiling, cedar shiplap walls, built around a central wood-fired stove with a 20' tall central chimney - plus a separate studio bedroom with small stove, and bunk room. With a sleeping loft with queen bed, Covehouse holds space for up to four people - ideally two couples, or one couple with children. It has a generous living area and vaulted ceilings that gives it an open, spacious feel. It features WiFi, high-speed fibre Internet, 80" screen with Netflix, 5.2 channel AVR with Spotify, a full kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, as well as laundry, expandable dining table, and bathroom with stone shower. Tall wrap-around windows feature the ocean, hills, cove and trees. Its all-wood and glass construction blends the cottage into the surrounding forest with spectacular views. For flexibility up to 4 guests, the Covehouse has sleeping options - a small double bunk room for children, a sleeping palette for younger children in the bedroom studio, a queen in the loft, and two sofa beds in the main space. The separate studio has a massive king four-poster, desk, all-glass art/crafts room, and its dozen windows offers additional space and privacy. A large cedar deck seamlessly connects the inside to the outdoors and beyond. The main space and loft offers electric baseboard heat as well as the wood stove. The bedroom studio has a wood stove and an electric oil heater. Both queen beds have heating pads for cool nights and cuddle-bed toppers for extra coziness. Baby gates are available to help with families for stairs to loft and on the deck. A portable crib is also available. Guest access Covehouse guests have exclusive access to the entire indoor space (except the storage shed) as well the immediate forest, cove and shorelines, deck, dock, and hot tub. The water for paddling and the Galloping Goose trail are immediately adjoining the cottage. Apart from the hosts' home (hidden from view), the nearest neighbors are 1 km away. Other things to note WilderGarden maintains very high standards in hygiene. Prior to arrival, all high-touch hard and soft surfaces are rigorously cleaned with FDA-approved cleaning products. Extra attention is given to switches, controls, handles and doorknobs, faucets, and keys. Linens and towels are dried on high heat. Sinks, shower, and toilet are rigorously disinfected. Bromine levels are maintained in the hot tub and it is serviced every day. Longer stays are encouraged. Only registered guests are permitted on property. Please ask if wanting to invite anyone else for a visit. The weather is usually incredible in and around Sooke, even when stormy. Sooke is in the "Great Blue Hole" rain shadow from the Olympic peninsula - and has amazing weather. Rainbows are regular and wildlife is plentiful. Westerlies are typical in the afternoon but the area is protected by the Olympic peninsula from most storm winds. The forest around the Covehouse is full of ecological niches, with rare and unique plant and animal species. We ask you to tread lightly, stick to existing pathways, and help conserve the habitat. Pets are NOT permitted with guests at the Covehouse, no exceptions aside from certified guide animals. The hosts can recommend nearby pet resorts if you need to keep your dear one in the area. We have four cats that live with us at the Bluecedar House - one likes to visit the Covehouse. You are welcome to pet him outdoors but please do not feed him or let him indoors out of consideration for future guests. We have a dog as well who barks at strangers but stays very close to the main house and never sees guests.
