There are actually three available bedrooms in the house. Each room is listed separately. This listing is for The South Room. It is a light, airy room on the second floor and it has a king bed, which can be converted into two twin beds at your request. There is a queen or twin air mattress available on request as well. This room also has a half bath en suite and access to the full bath downstairs. It has a private vanity with a sink and a desk with a chair. The other two rooms are on the main level and are connected by a shared full bathroom with bathtub included. They are The East Room and The West Room. Further details on those rooms can be found on their listing pages if you wish to book multiple rooms. You have the option of booking all three rooms or just one, but, they must be booked separately. Please see our profile page for our other available rooms. Guests will have access to all parts of the house with the exception of the private bedrooms of the two owners, the garage, the private barn studio, and the upstairs office and attic. The rest of the house is available to guests. This includes a large Kitchen/dining/living room, a back deck with grill and seating, a front porch, a laundry room and 15.5 acres of outdoor space to roam. We keep a path mown for dog owners that skirts the property. The main floor great room has GoogleHome, Antenna TV, and Apple TV, HBOMax Netflix, Hulu, Prime, and PBS on demand. Free Wifi is available throughout the house. We will be in and out of the house but at least one of us will be available and happy to help. We don't mind sharing meals so long as guests chip in for groceries. Likewise guests will have access to the kitchen if they do not want to share meals. We just ask that if you would like to cook you let us know so that we can plan our own meals. We each have businesses we run out of the house, one artist studio and one energy medicine practice, so most of the time we are in our workspaces. However, we are happy to interact with guests as desired. 35 minutes north of downtown Kansas City, the house is located in a very small rural town. Smithville lake is a 3 minute drive and in the summer it provides swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, biking, golf, and disc golf. There a few restaurants in Smithville, which we recommend. Our favorite is KoZak's Laketown Grill, which has great burgers. If you appreciate ethically processed meat you should drop by Paradise Meat locker, which is just across the highway. Paradise is one of the most ethical meat companies in the country. There is also a winery near by; Ladoga ridge is about 7 minutes away. In the summers we also maintain a sustainable and organic garden on the property. Guests are welcome to do some gardening and pick whatever they like. Studio tour available on request. The house is pretty rural so there is no public transport. If you're flying in to MCI Airport you should rent a car. We have two cats, two large dogs and one small dog. The cats are outdoor/ basement cats. Guests are welcome to bring their dogs, which they can keep in the guest bedrooms. We do need warning if you're going to bring a dog. If you are going to leave your dog at the house un accompanied we do charge an extra dog-sitting fee of $25 per dog unless you bring your own kennels for the room. We do not allow cats.
