The scenic entrance to the property is through an apple orchard planted by former governor of Vermont George Aiken. Putney is home to many educational institutions, and this is a perfect place to rest between admissions or parents' weekend events. We are 2 minutes to The Putney School and The Grammar School, 5 minutes to The Greenwood School, and 10 minutes to Landmark College. For hikers and outdoor enthusiasts: the location is 5 minutes to the Putney Mountain trailhead, which connects to the Pinnacle Association Trail system for excellent and well-marked hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Ski areas within 45 minutes - one hour: Mt. Snow, Grafton Ponds, Okemo, Stratton and Bromley. The space is sunny and cozy, with thermostat controlled heat, and a simple, open kitchen stocked with coffee, tea and cocoa. The bedroom is peaceful with a new queen-sized mattress and bedding, and light-controlling blinds on every window. The bathroom is oversized, with a deep soaking bathtub and all new fixtures (bubble bath provided!). Amenities include high speed wifi (30 Mbps download speed - 2 Mbps upload), Apple TV with access to six TV channels including HBO, and your own gas grill on the deck. Our location is off the beaten path, with a long dirt driveway that can be an adventure in winter, but is only 10 minutes to the village of Putney and 20 minutes to Brattleboro. The village is home to the West Hill Bike Shop, where you can rent bikes and cross-country ski gear, along with the Putney Coop and the General Store for groceries. Also in the center of town is Next Stage Arts Project, where live musical performances in a renovated church take place all year round, often enjoyed after a dinner at the Gleanery Restaurant or JD McCliments Pub.
