Grand Terraced House in Hawley Square, Margate
Grand Terraced House in Hawley Square, Margate
Description
A large terraced house on a quiet green square, perfectly located 5 mins walk away from the beach and all Margate attractions. Prized by its guests for its comfortable beds, beautiful design, decor and plants, and excellent hosting. Built in 1835 on Hawley Square, the finest Georgian garden square in town, once the summer home to London's gentry, the house has been fully refurbished with a specialist 'light touch' conservation approach by its owner and inhabitant, architect Sam Causer. The space THE HOUSE The large, quiet house, faces south onto a Georgian Garden Square. BEDROOMS Both of the two bedrooms have classic walnut-veneer bed frames with white Egyptian cotton feather duvet and pillows. For bookings of up to 2 guests only one bedroom will be prepared. The second bedroom will be locked off unless 3 or more people are booked to stay, or you specifically request that you would like two bedrooms, which includes an extra cost for the booking. If you would like both bedrooms, please select '3 guests' to stay which will update the cost. The beds will be prepared with 4 pillows and a duvet on each bed. KITCHEN In the kitchen you will find a basic assortment of products and usual facilities for cooking, so no need to bring anything unless you plan on doing something complex. We will provide fresh products for breakfast too, such as organic milk and eggs, bread and cereal etc. Coffee and tea is provided. There are also several great cafes and restaurants within a few minutes walk from the house if you prefer not to cook. In the house manual you will find a constantly updated list of those we love, but we are always happy to provide further recommendations if you have more specific tastes/dietary requirements. DINING ROOM The sunny dining room has a large bay window overlooking the square. The table seats four, but can accommodate more upon request. SITTING ROOM The sun and plant-filled sitting room also has a large bay window overlooking the square. BATHROOM The bathroom at the top of the house has far-reaching views across the rooftops of Margate, with a glimpse of the sea. There's a shower and a large bath. PLANTS We love plants and we have plenty in each room including the bathroom. We invest a lot in keeping them in good condition because they bring an incredible good feeling inside our home. INTERNET Free, fast, unlimited wireless internet is provided. WE DON'T HAVE TV (but we have a License if you want to bring a laptop or tablet) Guest access If you're just one or two people sleeping in the same bed, we’ll open up only one of the two bedrooms for you to use. If you’re a group of three or four, or would prefer two separate bedrooms, we’ll open up both bedrooms for you to use for an extra charge. In the latter case, please select '3 guests' when booking so we know you would like separate bedrooms and can charge accordingly. Other things to note COVID-19 NOTE: A cleaning fee will be applied to each booking to ensure health measurements before hosting guests. NOISE This is a quiet residential square, and the neighbours have a right to a quiet life, so we ask that you keep noise and disruption to a sensible minimum. As with any historic urban centre, there is sometimes outside noise which we can't control or predict. Please note there is currently a building site nearby which is usually quite contained and quiet, with no work at all after 4pm-ish or at weekends. If there is anything disturbing your quiet stay with us, just let us know and we will see how we can help. CARE FOR THE QUALITY OF OUR HOME This is a private home, open to trusted guests for quiet enjoyment, not a rental house as such, so we expect you to treat it with respect. Many of the books, artworks and items of furniture are special to us, as well as valuable; we ask that you look after them carefully. PHOTOGRAPHY / FILMING No commercial photography, filming, branding campaigns or professional lifestyle blogging inside the house please, this is our home and reserve the right to control how it is represented in a commercial sphere. You are welcome here as a guest; please contact us if you would like to discuss terms for other professional use.
