Wellhayes -The Store: A Romantic Hideout by a Lake

A romantic bolthole for two right next to the lake, The Store has been creatively converted using a warm minimal pared back aesthetic and muted tones celebrating natural raw materials. A perfect base for walks in the countryside or a place to hang out and relax: on the terrace, by the lake or in the sauna. The space The space of this old store has been creatively adapted using a warm minimal pared back aesthetic and muted tones showcasing the integrity of the raw materials – think band sawn door and window linings, a raw, smooth concrete floor – and combining it with up to date technology: luxurious underfloor heating, a smart TV and superbly equipped small kitchen. Near Wellhayes Barn, the store is completely private, with its own parking area and terrace. A perfect place to relax, whether by the woodburning stove, or on the terrace, guests are immersed in the abundant nature that surrounds this space. Deer, Kingfisher, Heron, Kestrel, Foxes are all frequent visitors and can be seen from the well positioned windows of the store. In the summer a beautiful herd of mixed cattle graze the unimproved pasture. Entrance is via reclaimed aluminium sliding doors into the open plan living space with kitchen, large dining table and two Knoll Bertoia Side Chairs, a vintage Habitat sofa, inset wood burning stove (with unlimited supply of logs) and a 40” Smart HD TV connected to the internet. Niches surrounding the door to the bedroom showcase a rotating collection of sculptural ceramics and artefacts. In the bedroom, a bespoke, king-size double bed is made up with crisp white linen. There is ample hanging and storage space for clothes and suitcases in the handmade wall storage that also includes a dressing table and illuminated mirror. French doors open onto the terrace. The shower room is ensuite, with a large walk in shower, illuminated de misting mirror and countertop basin. Guests are able to use our wood-fired sauna which sits on a secluded deck at the end of the lake surrounded by trees. There are three available sessions: morning, afternoon or evening with a charge of £60 made per session. These can be booked during your stay or beforehand. Guest access Guests have full use of The Store. They are free to relax by the lake or wander through our pasture down the valley. Other things to note The Store at Wellhayes can also be rented with The Barn, which provides accommodation for up to six people. Occasionally sheep or cattle graze our pasture. They are friendly and well mannered beasts but we do ask that dog owners keep their pets under control at all times.
