Set on the edge of Bodmin Moor just outside the village of Minions, our recently renovated, self-contained, 1-bedroom, 1st floor annexe offers breathtaking moorland scenery and tranquility ideal for walking, mountain biking, climbing or simply enjoying a cream tea on your own quiet decking. The village of Minions lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is part of a World Heritage Site due to its mining history; the mine buildings are only a short walk and ideal for photographers! The space The property is ideally situated for both outdoor enthusiasts and those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Sat only a short walk from the village of Minions which contains a village shop and Post Office and two tea rooms, the location is perfect for exploring Daphne du Maurier country (Jamaica Inn is just 13 miles away) and searching for the legendary Beast of Bodmin! Historians will delight in the mining heritage that surrounds the area, with the Heritage Centre a short walk away and one of Cornwall’s last built mines visible from the kitchen window. For those a little more active, the walking offers breath-taking views and an opportunity to explore the Neolithic enclosure of Stowe’s Pound and the geographical feature of the Cheesewring, along with the stone circles known as the Hurlers, with the quarries of Goldiggings and Cheesewring found along an easily-navigated track. Those in need of a much more active getaway, the Cheesewring quarry and surrounding tors are excellent climbing venues offering a wide range of grades. The mountain biking from the doorstep offers some very pleasant riding, with those looking for a challenge able to find some single-track rides at Cardinham Wood a 30-minute drive away. Set in the middle of Cornwall, both the north and south coasts are easily-accessed for finding the best surfing conditions or exploring a quiet cove. Guest access The self-contained annex is accessed via a flight of external steps past a spacious decked area that gets flooded with sunlight in the morning until early afternoon - an ideal space to relax and unwind with a morning coffee and paper. The annex comprises of a double bedroom with en-suite (shower, WC, vanity basin) and open-plan living/kitchen area. The kitchen is recently modernised and well equipped. Other things to note Your own transport is essential, as there is no public transport nearby and the local shop only sells the very basics. A welcome pack consisting of bread, milk, butter, tea and coffee will greet guests on arrival.
