Description

Seaview of Pladda & star gazing, electric heater, TV, DVD, electric sockets Back to Basics, small old caravan on cliff top, No WiFi, no running water, no shower, no smoking Bring food and a torch. 2 single couches change to double bed - 2 single douvets & Bedding in cupboard. Fridge, water container. 2 ring electric hob. utensils, Compost toilet. Outside tap Bus stop 1 min 2 mins Parking on- street not right next to caravan. Campsite shower pay £5 at reception Book on ferry The space Bring Food, a torch and a towel! Fantastic view on top of the cliff - Remote loaction bring what you need with you. No shops and hotel and campsite are closed in the winter. There are tatties in the garden - so dig if you are hungry! We live in the white house with blue window nearest to the caravan knock if you need anything. Kildonan is at the South end of Arran. You can watch from the deckchairs in the garden or from the caravan windows. You can see plenty of wildlife; seals, otters on the shore. Bird life and sometimes red squirrels visit the garden. Pull in beside Blue Minibus for drop off and pick up only, please keep track clear and don't park on the grass. There is off site parking at the steps to the top of silversands beach, you can leave your car here by benches. 2 minutes walk. (There is a sign saying no overnight parking for campervans but it is Ok for other vehicles) Only booked people (max 2) allowed to sleep in caravan, no guests after 8pm. Compost toilet in caravan- sawdust is used as cover material. Please tie the top of the bag when you go and lift out the bucket and empty it into black compost bins by the tree on the left of the caravan. Strictly no smoking or vaping inside caravan Untreated spring water is available from a tap at the front of the white shed beside the track. There is a container in the caravan. We recommend bringing your own bottled water to drink or boiling the water. Beach - You can walk to the left 2 mins along main road and walk down steps to Silversands beach, Keep an eye out for Otters, Seals and dolphins. We have a dog. Direct public transport from ferry terminal take Southend bus - stop at Kildonan castle & wee gallery. 1 min walk to caravan in the garden of No 2 Coastguard House. Fantastic sea views. You can sit on the chairs or in the caravan and watch for wildlife. If you are lucky you may spot, seals, otters, basking shark and lots of birds. Red squirrels can sometimes be spotted in the garden. Kildonan Hotel is closed at the moment - You can arrange to pay for a shower at the campsite. Guest access You have an area of garden you can use and there are small table and chairs. You can use a portable bbq if you bring it but please place it on the insulated bricks provided or it will burn the grass. Most people prefer to have a fire on the beach. Other things to note The Compost toilet is inside the caravan, you use damp sawdust as the cover material which prevents odours. More sawdust is is in a bag behind the caravan. You can put toilet roll in the toilet but no wet wipes. Everything goes in the same bucket. When you leave you lift out the bucket (don't lift the biodegradable bag as it may leak) and empty the whole bag into the black compost bin. and give it a rinse out there are more replacement toilet bags above the toilet Extra charge per person per night. Please write correct number of guests. No shower - go to the Auchrannie swimming pool or take a dip in the sea. When the campsite is open you can pay £5 for a shower at the campsite reception or bring a flannel. The mobile stonesthrow sauna sometimes visits Kildonan. Bring a torch! There are no street lights and you walk across the grass to the caravan on an open cliff top! There is a plastic fence. Great for star gazing. Untreated spring water is available from a tap at the front of the white shed beside the track. We recommend bringing your own bottled water to drink or boiling the water. Cooking and heating are by electric. The gas fire and oven is no longer connectedand dont work. There is tea, coffee, sugar and dry milk. There are cooking utensils. The caravan is at the top of a small open cliff with a moveable plastic fence. so care must be taken and children must be supervised at all times. Registration Details NA00333F
