Row onto Oilean Rua or catch a glimpse of the Seals that are so plentiful and whom follow you as you glide along the peaceful waters of Roaring Water Bay. Picturesque Ballydehob is just 1 and a half miles (a safe walking route) offer shops, pubs, restaurants and petrol station, art gallery, children's playground, tennis courts, horse riding and scenic walks along the estuary and over the famous 12 arch bridge. Tourist Office open daily in the summer months. This small village has lots of activity throughout the year with 5 festivals starting in April with Traditional Music festival, Jazz Festival in May, Maritime Festival and Country Western Festival both in June with a family festival in August. Levis's Bar has been in the hands of one family for over 100 years - the next generation have taken on the challenge of keeping the pub alive and in 2015 it became the winner of IMRO Live - Music Munster Venue of the year. Delightful restaurants for everyone's tastes - Italian, Thai, French all offering good quality food using the freshest local seasonal produce, tasty and healthy. West Cork is the Food Capital of Ireland! All grown locally and produced by West Cork farmers and fisheries. Check out the Markets in Bantry, Skibbereen and Schull - it is a haven for foodies. A Taste of West Cork Food Festival begins in September which brings together a unique mix of good markets, demonstrations, competitions, dinners, brunches and banquets, food tastings, talks childrens events and more. On the path of the Wild Atlantic way with spectacular rugged views of the coastline, sandy beaches and the nearby towns of Schull and Goleen with excellent water sports and summer camps for children of all ages. Crookhaven, Barley Cove Beach rated No. 1 best beach in Ireland by the Sunday Times 2015, Mizen Head, 3 Castle Head, Islands Sherkin, Cape Clear and Hare Island, Fastnet Rock are all within reach. Bigger towns such as Bantry with Whiddy Island just a short trip away. Skibbereen and Baltimore and many more....... This is also a great area for Walking trails - offering historical and archaeologial structures - Rossbrin and Kilcoe Medieval Castle.
