This self-catering gîte is part of a renovated 17th century mill with character that offers visitors a cozy and clean environment in which to enjoy a relaxing getaway. The two upstairs bedrooms each have comfortable double beds, an en-suite shower, and a toilet. Downstairs is a large open-plan sitting-dining room and full kitchen, furnished with an eclectic mix of vintage and designer furniture and quality contemporary crafts. A sofa bed in the sitting area sleeps two extra guests. The space The gite is ideal for four to six people: two couples, or three couples with one using the double sofa bed, or a family with older children. A travel cot can be provided at no additional cost if you have a baby with you. Please note that the gîte is not suitable for toddlers (or children aged 2-6 years old, especially those who cannot swim), as there is a stream running through the property. The steps within the gîte are quite steep and may be difficult for young children and people with a walking disability. The kitchen is generously equipped with an electric oven and gas/electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, fridge, and all the crockery, cutlery, and utensils you could need. Guests have their own private entrance and can come and go as they please. Car parking is outside the main gate at the end of a private drive. Limited Wi-Fi is available, suitable for things like checking emails, sending messages, and researching but not for downloading films or playing computer games. There are DVDs, books, games, and a TV in the sitting room with English channels. The beautifully-renovated double bedrooms are decorated in a vintage chic style that is enhanced by unique art and craft pieces collected over decades by the owner. Plush 100% Egyptian cotton bed linens and towels are included in the rental. The larger “blue bedroom” has a separate seating area with two velvet red chairs and a small table. The shower is visible from the bed, but the toilet is enclosed. The “red bedroom”, although smaller, has plenty of space to store clothes. It has a closed bathroom with a shower and toilet. Each double bedroom features a small desk and power outlets with adaptors, perfect for writers or business people focusing on a project or recharging their creative flow. Please use only organic shower, soap and hair products here as this is an organic small holding with a “foss septique”. It is important to maintain the quality of the water in the stream, and our land and abundant wild life for everyone's enjoyment and peace of mind. The gîte is heated In the winter by a combination of central heating and a wood-fired stove with an unlimited supply of wood included in the rental price. This makes it a great retreat for all seasons. The gîte is accessed through a gated, private courtyard furnished with dining table and chairs, sun loungers, umbrella and barbecue area. Vintage Art Nouveau French doors lead into the living, dining and kitchen room. The courtyard is alive in season with wild flowers, roses, and many song birds. From about mid-May until late October, the weather is warm and alfresco dining is the norm. Host Sylph Baier is a professional potter and guests have the opportunity to watch potting demonstrations, see finished works displayed, and purchase original ceramics on site as a souvenir. Her shop is located across the courtyard from the entrance to the gîte. The host's sheep roam and graze in the fenced-off upper fields. One very well-behaved dog and two cats live in the owner’s house and occasionally wander around the property as well. Guests may access the four acres of pasture and woodlands entirely at their own risk (please watch out for the ram!). Visiting dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. This is a tranquil place surrounded by trees where guests can reconnect with Mother Nature and restore the balance and calmness within.
