Unique Private Woodland camp with hot tub

An ancient hunting lodge privately located in a magical setting in 300 acres of forest - with no public access - this camp is like 'stepping back in time' and has featured in the national press. Mrs Higg's lodge is an experience of glamping like no other. The space The lodge was built in 1835 as a hunting lodge and is situated privately on its own in the middle of 350 acre woodland on the family estate about a mile up a track. The lodge had not been used for probably 60 years but is now renovated to keep its charm and to make it comfortable for guests with proper beds and a sink with hot running water provided from its own well. It is completely off grid, with solar power for some light and to power the fridge. The lodge has three woodburners - one in each of the bedrooms and one in the sitting room. Wood is provided for you. The comfortable proper beds will be made up ready for your arrival and bath towels are also provided. The bathroom is adjoining the lodge, but accessed from outside. It is very comfortable with a hot walk-in shower, wash basin and flushing loo. This is not quite a typical camping experience, more like experiencing a turn back in time. There is a small stove inside for cooking, and also a large firepit and outside sitting area. The wood fired hot tub is nestled on the edge of the woodland and this will be cleaned and filled with spring water for your arrival. If you want to use the hot tub there is a small extra charge of £20 and this can be paid on arrival or departure if you are not sure. All is for private use of guests only. The lodge is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and families. Well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement. The closest bus and train service is Hereford, 9 miles away, your own transport is recommended. Guest access They will have access of the lodge and acres of woodland on a large family owned estate. Do be aware that the track up to the camp is about a mile of 'bumpy' stone track, and therefore may not be appropriate for low sports cars etc. There are miles of walks over private land and access to the river by arrangement for fishing or canoeing. During the summer months the woods are ideal to explore with mountain bikes (bring your own). Other things to note Due to its location in the woods, the odd 'visitor from nature' may join your holiday briefly - nothing to be worried about, but bugs etc - like any camping - are difficult to always control, but it is scrupulously cleaned between holiday visitors. There are often deer grazing right outside at night, and this is what is so special about this magical place. Well behaved dogs are most welcome. There is a small charge of £15 per dog for their stay!
