Spend a peaceful night in a sheepherder's wagon next to a stream. Our 10-acre farm is conveniently located 9 miles from the Mesa Verde National Park entrance and midway between two famous mountain biking destinations. This charming getaway features a comfy double bed, pull-out table, some kitchen supplies plus an array of teas and coffee, an outdoor fire pit, easy parking, and a dedicated full guest bath in the main house nearby. Wake up to our simple yet substantial homemade breakfast. The space The sheepherder's wagon is a comfortable and cozy place for 1 or 2 guests to stay from May - October. Adults only please. Our wagon is well-appointed with amenities to help make your stay comfortable. The Tuft & Needle mattress guarantees a refreshing night of sleep. Kitchen supplies include a tea kettle, French-press coffee maker, along with a variety of coffee and tea supplies as well as dishes, mugs, silverware, but no pots or pans. A custom-made pull-out pine table is perfect for enjoying your homemade breakfast which we wheel out to you in the morning. Although cooking in the wagon is limited to boiling water for coffee or tea, there is ample outdoor space for setting up a camp stove in addition to a free-standing fire pit behind the wagon. A playful array of non-digitized games is part of the wagon's charm. Comfortable seating outside by the stream encourages guests to enjoy the tranquil setting and our interesting collection of animals. Tent space near the wagon is available to accommodate extra guests for an additional $25.00 per person . A few miscellaneous details: - There are 4 easy steps with railing that lead into the wagon. - There is no internet service in the wagon. Enjoy being unplugged for a night and marvel at the night sky. - We have 3 well-behaved dogs who will greet you as you pull up the driveway, but then will quickly lose interest. They are kept in their kennel at night so as not to disturb guests. - We offer a healthy homemade breakfast; please, no substitutions. Guest access Guests have 24/7 access to a private full bath in the main house, our residence. The main house is approximately 100 steps from the wagon; the path is well lit with solar lights. The yard, garden, pastures, and stream are accessible and inviting; guests are welcome to stroll the property, sit by the stream, hand-feed the goats and chickens, and revel in our glorious sunsets and dark skies full of stars. Other things to note We are 9 miles from the turnoff to the famed Mesa Verde National Park, a sight sought after by tourists worldwide. Many more lesser-known archaeological sites can be found in every direction. The Dolores River is a favorite spot for fishing and boating. The sky is dark and the stars abundant. Come prepared for a quiet, unplugged night away from home. A homemade breakfast awaits outside your door in the morning before you head out on your adventure.
