Opposite Place - East Suite

The Opposite Place is a restored pre-war double-storey shophouse hidden along a narrow street in Melaka’s old Chinatown. A cozy dessert café sits below, with three private rooms. The East Suite, washed in generous daylight, opens its wooden shutters toward an inner courtyard where bougainvillea spill their color into the air. Beyond, a spacious semi open-air bathing area invites slow moments and soft breaths—an unexpected expanse of calm in the city’s historic maze. The space The 350-square-foot East Suite is beautifully designed, its laid-back character expressed through mismatched vintage furniture and curated photographs and artwork—from Pop Art to Chinese brush paintings—add color and personality throughout. The private bathroom occupies its own sunlit room, featuring a rain shower and bathtub along a row of old shutter windows. From the end windows, you can look out onto an old Melaka back lane—perfect for savoring the quiet glow of an evening. Guest access As we do not have a 24-hour front desk service, please provide your expected time of arrival in advance to ensure a smooth and seamless check-in. I will be at the property to personally welcome you upon arrival. A short house briefing will be conducted during the check-in process. East Suite accommodates up to two guests, featuring a king size bed and a hot tub. Due to our stringent Fire and Safety policy, the maximum occupancy for each room is limited to 2 persons. All guest(s) must be registered upon check-in. For everyone’s comfort and safety, unregistered guest(s) and unregistered visitor(s) are not permitted. Management may refuse service without refund if house rules are violated. The property is monitored by CCTV for safety and security purpose. Please note that check-ins after 8pm are subject to a surcharge of RM 50. The latest check-in time is 10pm. Reservations without prior arrangement beyond this time will be deemed no-shows and cancelled without refund. During your stay We provide Wi-Fi and a Android TV equipped with Netflix for your entertainment. Amenities include tea and Nespresso coffee, towels, toiletries, cutlery, wine glasses, drinking water, and access to our communal mini bar, shared among all guests. Other things to note We do not have on-site parking, but there’s an open-air public parking lot about 100 meter away, which is the nearest option. It’s an automated car park. Jonker Street is just around the corner, with the lively Jonker Walk Night Market taking place every Friday to Sunday from 6 pm to midnight. It’s the perfect spot to explore local food and handmade crafts, and during these hours several surrounding streets transform into pedestrian-only walkways.
