Description
A lovely traditionally-furnished flat at the very heart of the old village, perfect for 4 lovely people. It is precious for its central location as well as for its special atmosphere. My grandpa planned and built it and it was my grandma's love! The space My mountain apartment is located in a pretty special position. It is in the very centre of the village but it is isolated from traffic, noises and the horde of tourists. It is surrounded by trees, fields and peace, facing the spectacular waterfalls from the Ruitor glacier. It is a comfortable but cosy flat of approximately 60 sqm at the ground floor of a typical wood-and-stone building. It is entirely covered in light wood. It is perfectly sized for 4 people but can comfortably sleep 5. The main bedroom has got two single all-wood beds that can be joined into a big double one. It is a very light room as it opens on the complex’s private garden facing the glacier. The nice yellow curtains give a joyful touch to the sunny atmosphere of the room. A big wardrobe and two bed-side tables complete its furniture. The second bedroom has got an all-wood white bunk bed. Since I was a child I have always called this room “Scotland” for the beautiful tartan pattern of the bed covers and the curtains. It faces North so it is not so light as the other one but it is more spacious and very comfortable. There is an original old-style writing table, two chairs and a single sofa-bed that can be easily converted into a 80x190 cm bed. This room has always been the children's room so colourful pictures decorate the wooden walls. All the beds are comfortable for people sized up to 85 kg. The two bathrooms opens on the same corridor of the rooms. The brown one has got a big bath tub with hand shower, while in the red one there is a shower. The shower is comfortable for people up to 80 kg. Central hot water allows abundance of water for sumptuous baths and extra-long showers! However, since the house was built in 1973, the hydraulic system is starting to show its age: some whistles can occasionally be heard when pressure is not sufficient and some care is needed when flushing the toilet ;) The half-open kitchen is fully equipped: cutlery, crockery, pans and pots, toaster, fridge, freezer, dish washer. The wooden cupboards were built by my grandpa and some of the pots are still my grandma’s ones. I am very fond of them. The main characteristic of the kitchen is the saloon door. It is really fascinating but it requires a bit of practice at the beginning! The sitting room is particularly cosy due to the big original fire place and the big windows overlooking the garden. There is a comfortable sofa, a big dining table that can sit up to 10 people, a bookcase with spectacular books about Mount Bianco and an all-wood coffee table. The walls are decorated with interesting pictures of the village as it was at the beginning of the century. Guest access The house is a traditional wood-and-stone 3-storeys block of flats on a gentle slope at the entrance of the old village. It was planned and built by a small group of close friends in the 70s. The apartments of the house were then shared between the families of the co-founders and today we all grandchildren still colonize it in summer with all the grand-grandchildren. So I am a proud member of the third generation, still in love with that house! On the ground floor there are three common spaces: the kids room with toys and table tennis equipment, the meeting room for social occasions, and the laundry room (with coin laundry, dryer and drying rack). The ground floor also provide special areas for stocking skiing equipment. At the back of the building there is a private car-parking, which is not available at the moment due to restoration works Other things to note The apartment is on the ground floor if you enter from the garden side, but from the main entrance there are steps to climb and no elevator. The heating is NOT central. It must be regulated with a thermostat. The cooker is a gas-fire and the gas cylinder is located outdoor. The washing machine is in the laundry room (ground floor). It is a coin laundry and coins can be provided on request (3€ each).
