Situated in the heart of the wild and dramatic North Pennines, Garden Cottage offers newly-converted, comfortable interiors and carefully hand-crafted features within extensive gardens, overlooking the beautiful and tranquil East Allen Valley. The space Garden Cottage is a comfortable and spacious stone-built conversion of a former Victorian coach house. It has been carefully restored by local craftsmen, making it quite unique. The ground floor is tiled throughout with Fired Earth terracotta. The hand-crafted kitchen area includes dishwasher, gas cooker, microwave and fridge. The kitchen is well-equipped and there is plenty of storage space. The comfortable, relaxing dining area is perfect for enjoying an evening meal or a leisurely breakfast. The large wall map makes it a perfect spot for planning excursions. The downstairs bathroom is accessible through an old stain-glassed door. Here you can take a shower or soak in the roll-top bath. Going through another beautiful stain-glassed door, you reach the spacious living room. Here you'll find plenty of room for lounging around and getting cosy around the fire. There is an interesting and extensive collection of books, DVDs and games for guests to enjoy. You'll also find an excellent sound system compatible with Bluetooth and USB and a TV with Freeview. Together with a leather Chesterfield sofa and chairs, there is a large and comfy sofa bed. Upstairs via the hand-painted staircase, you'll find oak floorboards throughout. The large main bedroom has a large, comfy double sleigh bed and the second bedroom has the option of a double or single beds. A cot is available on request but there are no stair gates for little ones. The first-floor bathroom has a large walk-in shower area and hand-made floor tiles. Outside, there is a sunny garden and a gravelled area with a large picnic table for al fresco dining. Guest access - Parking area. - Lockable bicycle/motorbike shed adjacent to the cottage - Guests have full access to the surrounding gardens, including croquet lawn. - Outdoor dining area and BBQ available. - Free WIFI and Freeview TV. Other things to note - GPS is not great for finding the cottage. We are situated at the south end of Sparty Lea, opposite the bus stop. The main house, Low Shield House, is clearly marked on the road side, at the top of the driveway. Please call Janet's mobile if you need more directions. - Local artist, Linda Garrard, has kindly agreed to exhibit a collection of her wonderful watercolours of the local area throughout the cottage. These are available to buy. Please ask the host for details. - Well behaved dogs are welcome. Guests are expected to clear up after their animals in and outside the cottage. Please note that we have dogs, cats and hens in the grounds, so sociable animals only please!
