Description
Villa divided into 4 units each with independent access and private terrace, in a huge landscaped garden, with a semi-olympic, 25 meters long infinity pool, between Mt. Etna and the Jonian sea. Villa Etnamare is situated up on a hill overlooking the green East coast of Sicily, between Mount Etna and the Ionian sea. It is surrounded by a land of five hectares dotted with heavily laden citrus trees and flowers. A huge 25 meter long infinity pool is set amongst orange and olive trees on a natural terrace offering spectacular views of the Volcano and of the whole coastline as far as Catania, Giardini Naxos and Taormina. The villa is divided into four independent units, with private terraces. The choice to divide such a large property into a few units was made by its owners, who built it from the foundations, to preserve its exclusivity but at a more accessible cost. The two storey unit GLICINE dominates the northeast wing of the villa, with a splendid sea view over the whole coastline between Taormina and Catania, as well as Mt Etna views, both from the interior and from its secluded private terrace with balcony. This unit is the largest of the four, as it offers three double bedrooms, three bathrooms and three living rooms. The ground floor consists of a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower and a large living room with fully equipped kitchen and extendable wooden table, high quality double sofa bed and two large sliding doors giving access to a private terrace with balcony equipped with parasol, garden furniture and barbecue. A wooden staircase leads you to the upper floor, which offers two double bedrooms, two bathrooms and two further living areas equipped with single beds/cot. There are also two panoramic balconies. This unit as a whole can accommodate up to 8 adults and an infant. The rental cost varies depending on the number of people, so it is also suitable for families of 4 people or less, at a reduced price for two bedrooms/bathrooms. Glicine's third bedroom/bathroom/living room upstairs are available upon request and at an additional cost if you are traveling with less than 5 people. Please, note that the living areas located upstairs can be used as additional bedrooms, therefore even if you are with four people, you will still have two bedrooms, two bathrooms and an extra living space with a single bed upstairs, at no additional cost. GLICINE is equipped with hot/cold air conditioners, LCD TV, oven, refrigerator, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, washing machine, fully equipped kitchen, free wi-fi. The interiors are chosen with care, using high quality natural materials. SURROUNDINGS Villa EtnAmare lies only 500 metres away from Santa Venerina. This quiet, landscaped town of 8000 inhabitants is dedicated to gastronomic tourism and offers an impressive number of excellent cafes, restaurants and wineries, many of which are within walking distance. Two supermarkets and a couple of groceries and bakeries are 5 minutes walk, while the nearest shopping mall, Conforama, which is open even on Sunday, is at 10 minutes driving distance. Santa Venerina is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily, thanks to its very strategic position halfway between Catania and Taormina. The town is 5 minutes drive from the motorway A18 Catania-Messina from which, in an average time of 20 minutes, you can reach the highlights of Eastern Sicily, such as Taormina, Alcantara Gorge, Catania, Acicastello, Acireale, Mt Etna and Giardini Naxos. The nearest beaches can be found at 10 minutes drive. The villa is also an excellent starting point from which to explore Mount Etna and its surroundings. Rifugio Sapienza, the main ski area, where you can take the Etna cableway up to Mount Etna is 10 km away from the villa. The sun of Sicily holds the record in Europe and maintains a mild climate throughout the year. Spring is the ideal time to enjoy the culture and nature that this island has to offer. It’s well worth making a trip just to experience the Easter processions, bringing together folklore and tradition in an incredibly mystic way. The interior is spectacular, with the mountain slopes exploding in colour, while on the coast the first bathers start taking to the beaches. In autumn, throughout October and mid-November, the sea water is still warmed by the summer sun, and the daytime temperature still reaches 30°c during the warmest hours. Festivals dedicated to local products such as wine, mushrooms and sweets are organized in many towns on the slopes of Etna. Our apartments are suitable for winter, Christmas and New Year. The weather between December and March can often be mild and sunny, but each of the apartments have a cozy quality allied to good heating systems and plenty of indoor space just in case! Villa EtnAmare is divided into 4 units: "Glicine" and "Girasole" with 3 bedrooms, Geranio with 2 bedrooms and "Gelsomino" with 1 bedroom, each of them with independent access and private terrace. The terraces are very spacious, screened and spaced apart to ensure privacy. The garden is spread over two levels which reflect the model of the old terraced vineyards, so both the apartments on the first floor (Girasole, Gelsomino and Glicine) and the one on the ground floor (Geranio) overlook it directly. The swimming pool is located on the highest garden level, the same as the apartments on the first floor. A free covered car park is in the villa's ground floor. This property stands on five hectares estate owned by Nadia and her family. Guests are free to walk its fragrant paths and pick the fruit themselves. The infinity pool is one of the largest outdoor pools on the island. The choice to divide such a large property into just four units was made to preserve its exclusivity, at a more accessible cost. This Airbnb is not suitable, due to its large size, for self check-in, therefore good communication with hosts from the moment of booking is required, in order to gain access. Late arrivals must be agreed with hosts before booking. Nadia and her son, as well as her parents, live in two neighbouring properties. Nadia is a teacher and single mother of a 7-year-old boy. She is the one who welcomes guests upon arrival. Work and family keep her busy but she is always reachable during your stay for any help or suggestions regarding the surrounding area. Nadia's father, Angelo, is the energetic 81-year-old builder and owner of the property. He loves picking fresh fruit for his guests and leading them along the citrus scented paths, so that they can pick the fruit by themselves. This Airbnb is not suitable, due to its large size, for self check-in, therefore good communication with hosts from the moment of booking is required, in order to gain access. Late arrivals must be agreed with hosts before booking. Villa EtnAmare lies only 500 metres away from Santa Venerina, a village famed for the production of sweets and liqueurs. 'Pasticceria Russo' is well-known for its 'cornetti al miele' (croissants filled with honey), marzipan fruit and almond pastries. In the village, just 5 minutes walk, there are restaurants, supermarkets and shops. An excellent winery is located between Santa Venerina and Zafferana, less than 5 minutes driving distance. The charming baroque town of Acireale is only 15 km away from Santa Venerina. It is situated next to the 'Riviera dei Ciclopi', a unique coast with a crystal clear sea and lava stacks (Faraglioni) which is believed by Greek mythology to correspond to the stones thrown by blind Polifemo to Ulysses. The Riviera traditional resort towns of Acicastello and Acitrezza have long been a magnet for local day trips and offer arguably the best Granita to be found anywhere and lots of good seafood trattorias. Catania, with its rich architectural heritage, its vibrant markets, restaurants and shops, is only 30 minutes away from the village. The east coast Ionian Riviera has some of Sicily's most picturesque pebbly and sandy beaches including those of Isola Bella, Giardini Naxos and Letojanni (below Taormina). The towns and villages that dot the flanks of Etna, such as Zafferana Etnea, Trecastagni and Randazzo, are well worth stopping off for a visit to their seventeenth century churches built in lava stone or for a spot of lunch in restaurants offering delicious local products. The village is only 4 km away from Zafferana Etnea and 10 km from Rifugio Sapienza, the main ski area, where it is possible to take the Etna cableway, up to the main craters. Nadia's father bought the property in 1986. He was enchanted by the beauty of that vast plot of land cultivated with vineyards and citrus groves that offered an unrivaled view and that, despite being in the countryside, was so well connected to neighboring towns. In 2001 began the construction of the present villa, which was completed in 2010.
