Stay With Shyama | Kerala kitchen homestay
Silverweed homestay
Description
Stay with Shyama and experience Kerala through her family kitchen. Silverweed is our multi-generational family home in Fort Kochi, where a comfortable private stay comes with something harder to find — genuine Kerala hospitality. Meet our grandmother Shyama, enjoy home-cooked Kerala food, discover Fort Kochi through local eyes and, if you wish, join her for a hands-on cooking experience. Come for Fort Kochi. Leave with a little piece of Kerala family life. The space Silverweed is a small family homestay rather than a conventional hotel. Your private guest room is simple, clean and comfortable, with a private bathroom, Wi-Fi and the amenities shown in the listing. Guests also have access to our shared plant-filled balcony and common spaces. Our home is best suited to travellers who value cleanliness, comfort, local connection and a genuine residential atmosphere over resort-style facilities. Food is an important part of life here. Subject to availability, Kerala breakfast, home-cooked meals and cooking experiences with Shyama can also be arranged separately. Guest access Guests have private access to their bedroom and private bathroom. You are also welcome to use our shared main hall, dining area and common balcony. The balcony is a shared common space and is not a private balcony attached to the room. As Silverweed is our actual family home, some areas remain private for our family's use. We are happy to explain everything when you arrive so you can feel comfortable and at home from the beginning. During your stay We live on-site and are usually available whenever you need help. We enjoy meeting travellers and are happy to share local recommendations, Kerala food, cultural insights and practical advice for exploring Fort Kochi. At the same time, we understand that everyone travels differently. You can be as social or as private as you wish. If you enjoy food and culture, you may also have the opportunity to spend time with our grandmother Shyama or join one of her optional cooking experiences. Our aim is to be present when you need us without intruding on your stay. Other things to note Silverweed is a genuine family homestay, so guests will experience the normal rhythm of a Kerala household rather than an anonymous hotel environment. For foreign nationals, a valid passport and visa are required for mandatory guest registration. Indian guests are required to provide valid government-issued identification. Breakfast is available for extra charges.Home-cooked meals, cooking classes, transfers and other additional services are subject to availability and may carry an extra charge. Please message us in advance if you are particularly interested in cooking or meals so we can confirm availability. Most importantly, if you are looking for luxury hotel facilities, Silverweed may not be the right fit. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable stay with a real Kerala family and the opportunity to experience local food and everyday life, we would be delighted to welcome you.
