Casetta del Casaro in the Dolomites
Casetta del Casaro in the Dolomites
Agriturismo Fattoria Ortoalpino
Description
The Little Dairy is a completely self-contained building. It has a small living room, a kitchenette stove with 2 burners, fridge and microwave, an internal bathroom, and a bedroom with two twin beds on the upper floor. It has independent heating, hot water, and all the necessary cooking equipment. It was a small dairy from the 18th century until 30 years ago and is all in local stone, philologically restored. If the cottage is occupied, you can take a look at similar listings from the same host. Thank you The space The recent restoration has preserved the original building, so the internal walls are made of exposed stone and the ground-floor ceiling has been restored, preserving the original beams. The attic, on the other hand, has been completely renovated with an antique pine floor and a ceiling cladding, which makes it bright and functional. The building is heated in the winter with an independent thermostat. The bathroom is equipped with toilet facilities and a shower. Towels, soap, and a hairdryer are provided. Inside the kitchen cabinets, there are pots and dishes. Inside and outside the house there is a wifi network available free of charge. Guest access Breakfast is self-managed, thanks to the kitchenette in the cottage. In the right season, we will be happy to provide you with organic eggs, fruits, and vegetables from our gardens. You can come with us to collect them yourself. Alternatively, upon request, breakfast service is available at a price of €10 per person in the breakfast room in the main building. A traditional Alpine breakfast, it consists of sweet and savory courses, homemade jams, fresh bread, milk, and many other things including eggs from the farm. Outside, there are tables and chairs in the sun or under the trees that are available for guests to eat lunch, read, or work with their PCs. Ortoalpino provides 2 mountain bikes for guests who want to use them to visit the surrounding area. We offer them free of charge. Behind the two cottages is a small area with a fire pit where you can safely make a fire and cook meat and vegetables. This service is also free, just go to the nearby woods to collect the wood. Other things to note The sustainability of Ortoalpino A = water The water in Ortoalpino is fresh and pure. We drink and offer our guests aqueduct water because it is pure, light, low in chlorine and is pumped directly from Val di Piero into the pristine and little-known Belluno Dolomites. The water for the garden and the vegetable garden is instead rainwater, recovered from the roof and stored in two large underground tanks. So nothing is wasted. B = Biomass. Plant biomass, made of local shrubs and branches, is our black gold. Our boiler at the historic site produces heat and domestic hot water only with renewable energy. The waste produced (ash and charcoal) enriches the mineral composition of our gardens. C = Kitchen: Our kitchen (from breakfast to elaborate lunch) is based on the principles of “Good, Clean and Fair”. We mainly use seasonal products that we grow or harvest ourselves, absolutely untreated and processed only with natural ingredients (no glutamate, aspartame, margarine etc). The recipes are those of the past, consolidated by tradition and experience. D = Detergents and Cleaning Products: Our laundry is washed exclusively with self-produced ash lye and softened with vinegar. E = Energy. Both locations are equipped with photovoltaic systems and storage batteries that make them self-sufficient. We have charging stations for electric cars F= Wildlife and mushrooms. Ortoalpino is home to an uncontaminated territory that has not only been preserved from anthropization but in recent years has been further recovered in the wild. Deer, roe deer, foxes, martens and all kinds of birds and amphibians inhabit our forests and show themselves at dawn, delighting the eyes of children and adults. And every now and then, bears that are repopulating the Dolomites also hang out in the area G= Geology. The Dolomites in front of us are a unique, wonderful environment full of experiences of all kinds. Our more modest Prealps are rich in ravines, canyons, lakes and waterfalls, unknown and ready to be explored L = lamps. All the lighting in the house is produced by energy-efficient lamps. This does not exempt you from keeping the lights off if they are not needed and consuming energy sparingly. M = Mountain Bike. Around us there are endless routes to ride a bike through challenging climbs or simple paths in the woods. We provide 2 free bicycles for those who want to approach this sport N = Nature. This is its home. And man's strength does not lie in violating it, conditioning it, constricting it but in integrating, realigning with it, absorbing its balance and internalizing its harmony. It is beautiful, in our opinion, to go to sleep in the dark and wake up at dawn, enjoy the sun, eat the seasons and the territory, breathe the rain, cool off in the streams… and I could go on. O = Horticulture. Ours is traditional agriculture, based on ancient knowledge, optimization techniques, intercropping, thoughtful crop management, and the recovery of native seeds and plants. Wherever possible, we reproduce the seeds; we use only natural fertilizers (manure and chicken manure, leaves and ash), we do not use chemicals either for weeding or for pest control. We can confidently say that, except for soil residues, our horticultural products can be eaten without being washed P = Polli & co. Our animals are raised in freedom, i.e. they roam freely, often even outside the assigned enclosures. Their free diet is supplemented only by a few handfuls of corn. We produce chicks directly, which will grow into broilers or laying hens. The numerous eggs enrich the cuisine and home-cooked dishes. R= Recycling & Reuse = Before being thrown away, all products are revisited for their potential recycling or reuse, first in their entirety and then secondly through the reuse of individual components. The building is full of examples that are not only of nostalgic value. S = Sun. The sun is our pulsating engine. It makes plants and flowers flourish, dries our laundry, strengthens bones and feeds the vacuum solar panels that produce hot water. From March to September, the sun alone heats the water for the whole house without the need for other energy sources T = Earth. Mother Earth is the fulcrum, the center of all our activity, spirituality, satisfaction. Cultivating and respecting the land means enjoying its fruits, enriching the pantry, delighting the palate, accumulating reserves for the winter periods, feeding the animals themselves and preserving everything for the following year, for the next generation, for eternity. Working means entering into harmony, caring, helping, supporting. And it's anything but tiring U = Humanism. Man at the center, not above Nature but in harmony with it. Those who come to Ortoalpino are put in a position to express themselves, to enhance knowledge and relationships, to find peace and well-being. They must contribute to the system, enrich it with their presence, leave everything better than they found it and witness its passage with something for those who come after. Z = Zero emissions. Our building, fully insulated, is classified B. We only emit smoke from natural wood, we recycle ash and slag in the vegetable gardens and for detergents, we recover waste in a differentiated way and we allocate the organic matter to animal feed or soil fertilization. Most of our detergents are natural. Registration Details IT025074B59DLLOTQJ
