The space *Our cabin is very popular and if it’s full for your dates we have another equally wonderful place to stay ‘The Barn Owl’. Find it by clicking on our host profile photo* Our cabin is a nature lovers retreat for those looking for an adventure on foot or 2 wheels, or merely an escape from hustle and bustle of everyday life. It's located in the heart of Snowdonia, surrounded by native ancient forest and the wildlife it supports, nothing but the sound of the river and birdsong. After leaving your car at the garage, make the rest of your journey on foot, a short walk over a bridge by a waterfall and up a tree lined track up towards the cabin. The cabin is a long stone's throw from the main house but enjoys complete privacy through it's own gate and is hidden amongst trees and shrubs. It comprises large furnished deck complete with wood-fired hot tub, perfect for relaxing in nature and under the stars. Inside there is underfloor heating, kingsize bed, fully equipped kitchen & dining area, wet room and large comfy couch on which to enjoy a full cinema experience. The cabin is a perfect way to explore this part of Snowdonia, the surrounding area is crisscrossed with walkers paths and bike trails, there are outdoor pursuits galore from surfing to zip wiring over the slate mines. Snowdon itself is close for more great walking, as is Coed y Brenin for mountain biking and Bala for watersports or simply amble through nearby forests, by beautiful rivers and lakes. On a sunny day, the beautiful white sandy beaches of Harlech, Borth y Gest and the Llyn Peninsula are all within a short drive away. Now for the basics, we provide bedding and towels, small welcome pack (for 3+ nights). Eco-sensitive toiletries are provided which we encourage you to use. The cabin comfortably accommodates 2 adults. The cabin has full cinema experience and we have an extensive library for you to choose from. We are both keen walkers and can supply maps or advice on the many local hikes. ** pls note from around the end of July we will be installing a new hot tub. It will be wood-fired like the current model but switching out for an ‘Ofuro’ type tub in which bathers will sit in it like a very big roll-top bath. It will also heat up quicker which is a good thing. Guest access You have total access to the whole cabin and all its features and utilities. Please note that the walk up to the cabin is part uphill and partly on uneven ground. You will need appropriate footwear and an average level of fitness. This is all part of the adventure! Other things to note The cabin is very remote. The only access to guests is on foot. It is a 5 minute walk from the car and the walk is on uneven ground and at times uphill, some of which is medium gradient. This is what we love about the location and makes the cabin so special. With this in mind, we recommend sturdy footwear and travelling light. Backpacks or shoulder slung bags are recommended. If you’re arriving after dark, we recommend bringing a torch. Head torches are even better :) To help limit the amount of stuff you need to bring, we supply the cabin with basics that are listed below. At your request, we can provide the following: doggy crate, doggy bowls. Basics in the cabin: tea, coffee, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, shower gel, shampoo, hair dryer, towels, logs, kindling, firelighters. The projector is connected to a blu ray player. There is an extensive collection of movies and box sets. We love it! The hot tub is a wood fired hot tub. Some photos may show the older hot tub. We think wood fired is better and far more eco friendly. There is a Bluetooth sound bar in the cabin to connect your devices. There is no hot running water in the kitchen. There is a kettle which can be used to warm the water up.
