Corner of paradise! Val d Abondance

Lovely apartment, well appointed kitchen, large shower room, comfortable living area, beautiful views especially at sunset, down to Lake Geneva, on the route of the GR 5. One double bedroom with the same stunning views . There is an exceptionally comfortable sofa bed in the living area which is made up with a memory foam mattress for one or two people . Proper bedding with cotton sheets etc is provided . This is a very special place! The space This is a ground floor apartment in our family home a traditional chalet built 14 years ago, we have a cat who lives upstairs with us he does not go in the apt , we have a trampoline . There is parking for one extra car. There is free wifi access. Washing machine facility on request at a charge of 5 euros per wash. Cotton towels and bed linen provided. We are a British family however we speak fluent French as well as a little German and Spanish. Guest access This really is a spectacular area to visit either in summer or winter there is so much to do; from a choice of lots of beautiful beaches down by Lake Geneva, outdoor pools in the mountains, stunning walks to suit all levels, road biking is very popular and this is great place to base yourself, VTT/ mountain biking is one of the most popular sports in this area being in the heart of the Porte du Soliel. The wild flowers are spectacular in early summer and the mountain walks are stunning. Switzerland is half an hours drive away, there are spas happy to take children, as well as adult only ones. The ski lift system is also open in the summer for walkers, sightseers and mountain bikers. The local market in Abondance on a Sunday morning is well worth a visit. Vacheresse is a quiet traditional French village, situated in a good spot to explore the many different snowsport resorts in the area. Other things to note There is usually the basics in the apt, various teas, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, a little oil and vinagar. The village bar by the parking near the Mairie sells fresh bread,croisants and the very basics, there nearest larger supermarkets are Super U, Vinzier and Intermarche, Chatel. There is a Sunday Market in Abondance and there are also two little supermarkets in Abondance as well as restaurants and bars, there is also a big market in Thonon on a Thursday. If here in the summer its well worth getting a multi pass for the area available from . It’s worth noting that out of season the valley is very sleepy as many of the businesses take time off at these times . Abondance, la Chapelle de Abondance well as Chatel all have active tourist information centres . Bernex is only ten minutes by car and is an active village with a shop restaurants, riding stables and its own ski area . Morzine and the valley d ‘ Aulps is the same distance by car as Chatel . Public transport is very limited in the area and your own transport is essential to be able to enjoy the area . There are beautiful beaches along lac Leman / lake Geneva and the towns of Evian and Thonon as certainly worth visiting . A ferry can be taken accross the lake to Lausanne and visiting Switzerland is an easy trip .
