Situated in a secluded location, within easy level walking distance of Hexham market town centre, School Cottage is a unique building; a great base from which to explore all that Northumberland has to offer. The cottage has two ensuite bedrooms and sleeps 4 people. It has a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. The lounge has an electric wood burning effect stove with satellite TV. Off street parking for two cars is included along with a private south facing courtyard. The space The owners recently acquired Orchard Gap and have spent five years restoring both the main school house and the out buildings, one of which is School Cottage. Refurbishment was completed in February 2020. The detached stone & brick cottage was originally built as stables around 1853 and used as school rooms during WWII. With original period features, this recently modernised property has WI-FI, two ensuite bedrooms and beamed ceilings upstairs which adds to the character of the cottage. There is a handrail to help with steps at the main door. The kitchen has an electric fan oven and hob, fridge with ice box, microwave, dishwasher, with ample crockery, glasses and cutlery. There is a utility room with washing machine, loo and hand basin. There is a washing line you can use in the courtyard and a dryer can be made available on request along with space in a freezer if required. The through lounge contains a sofa and two armchairs and a dining table which sits up to 6 people. There is an original fireplace with electric log burner effect fire. A bookshelf contains a variety of books and games and a collection of DVDs and information on attractions in the area. Bedroom 1 has twin beds. It has a pleasant view over gardens including the original Victorian greenhouse complete with vine. Bedroom 2 has a King size bed and overlooks the vegetable garden of Orchard Gap.
