Private entrance to the detached upstairs private studio with a king bed, double futon and kitchenette and private balcony for ideal eclipse viewing. Rental rate for solar eclipse week 2017 between August 19-23rd is $255.00 nightly (3 night minimum and maximum party of 4--$50.00 nightly for additional people). 4th night--$125.00. Note the only access to the space is a flight of stairs. The space We are in the heart of Central Oregon, north of Bend and close to parks, great views, and dining. Our south facing butte is perfect for August 21st, 2017 solar eclipse viewing and mountain biking while you wait for the big event. This is a great opportunity to experience an alternative eco-friendly home and small farm—be prepared, you will hear roosters crowing in the wee hours of the morning. We have a studio, 2 rooms and 2 tent sites for rent with 4 night minimum. Guest access You will have access to the house, Please note, our house is passive solar, so all the floors are concrete, slate or hard floors. In the main house, you will have access to the full kitchen, dining area and living room. The TV with cable is in the shared living room, but we are happy to give up the remote. There are desks available and lots of nooks inside and outside to settle down with a book or just chill out. Other things to note The studio is only accessible by an outside staircase. We have poultry and roosters crow, sometimes very early. We are in the heart of the high desert and the landscape is rustic, dusty and rocky. All floors are concrete, stone or wood, so high heels are not recommended. We provide coffee, tea and a continental breakfast. Our home is passive solar, with stone and concrete floors; we highly recommend slippers so your feet don't get to cold. There are nice sitting areas outside on the front porch and main deck for all guests. Please note for Solar Eclipse: Locals are being forewarned about stocking up on groceries, supplies and fuel in advance. We are also being urged to limit driving as much as possible due to anticipation of high traffic. It is highly recommended that all guests bring the creature comforts and supplies they will need during their stay. If possible, please bring your own coolers with ice for food storage—we can re-stock ice blocks. Please note: this is the high desert and we do not have any grass sitting or playing areas. - Our Earthship is an alternative home and there are still some projects that we are working on. - If you prefer a fancy lifestyle more than a natural one, this may not be the right rental for you. - Most kitchen appliances and serving ware are a available for use, but there are some restrictions. We need to be confident that you know how to use the appliances properly, such as the VitaMix, the solar oven, and Kitchen Aid Mixer. The house is passive solar so all floors are concrete or slate, but there are a few rugs. If you have babies and toddlers and the hard floors are a concern, this might not be a good match. Our children grew up in this house and the hard floors were not a problem.
