The Schoolhouse Cottage, completely renovated in 2013, is 90 minutes from NYC, and is minutes to Mohonk, New Paltz, Gardiner. Enjoy being on the edge of a Farm and having easy access to the Hudson Valley. The space This 2-bedroom sunny cottage - originally built as a schoolhouse in 1847 and completely renovated in 2013- sleeps up to five people comfortably and provides guests a getaway. The Cottage sits on one edge of a 120-acre farm. The cottage works well for friends' reunions, families with children, and as a peaceful, romantic escape. Writers have used the cottage for quiet inspiration. Climbers and hikers use it as a base for getting to the Gunks, Mohonk Preserve, and Minnewaska trailheads. Inside the Schoolhouse, the clean cozy design will leave you rested. Windows and skylights light the great, wood-beamed room where there is comfortable seating for five, a renovated eat-in kitchen, and a dining table. The kitchen has utensils, pots and pans. There’s s coffee maker and tea kettle. The Cottage has cable, a smart TV, and WIFI. There is central air and heat. The biggest bedroom includes a king bed and looks out on the farm; the second bedroom has twin beds. A generous hallway has another twin bed and a stackable washer/dryer. Just outside the Schoolhouse, guests enjoy using a Weber Grill for barbeques and sitting on the Adirondack chairs by a fire pit while taking in acred views. The Cottage is a perfect location to enjoy the Hudson Valley. Ten minutes to Mohonk Preserve trailheads and the Main Streets in New Paltz and Gardiner with fun, nearby restaurants, shopping, art, orchards, and wineries. Guest access On the farm, enjoy looking up at the Shawangunk cliffs. You're sure to enjoy walking the carriage trails, meeting the donkeys, ponies, and horses. Amateur photographers will love how the sun lights the farm the mountains, and the animals, etc. Note: While we do not offer trail rides, depending on availability, we can arrange lessons for amateur and advanced, English horse riders lessons. During COVID, we are not equipped to give beginners lessons. Other things to note We are vaccinated, as are all people who work on the farm. We urge all guests to be vaccinated and/or to arrive with a negative test result just prior to visiting. We also offer longer visits, especially for those seeking a winter getaway.
