Come stay awhile in this cozy cabin, far from the crowds but close to the outdoors you love. Ski, hike, bike, climb all within a few miles. At the cabin, soak up the warmth from the fire pit, enjoy the starry nights. The cabin is close to fun for all ages. In the summer you can hike the AT, mountain bike, cycle the rolling Easton valley or take on the challenge of the Kancamagus. Visit breweries and gift shops in Littleton or Woodstock and taverns, ski resorts and waterfalls in Lincoln. Franconia has the Garnet Hill outlet store, and a nice grocery. In the winter you can use your fat tire bike, ski Cannon or Loon, snowshoe or cross country ski. Any time of the year you can drive to or hike into waterfalls galore including Bridal Veil Falls, trail head a short 6 miles from the cabin. Drive 6 miles to Lost River with caves to explore and a scenic lake, and explore other many other natural swimming holes within 20 miles. Shop the stores in Conway after a scenic drive over the Kanc. Visit Littleton for fun shops and breweries along the scenic river. Take the cog railway up Mt. Washington or the tram up Cannon. Hang out in the yard after dark to see the Milky Way on moonless nights or watch the moon rise over the "Moose". And don’t forget just lazing around the fire pit enjoying the peace and quiet of this 12 acres in the White Mountains. Take your coffee out to the front porch to catch the morning sun and views of Cannon, Moosilauke and Mt Blue. Pick up groceries on your way to the cabin, at Lincoln, or Franconia. The cabin has a well equipped kitchen, full sized washer/dryer, good quality linens and bedding, and 3 of the beds have new mattresses. Other updates: - 2017 a new "wood" stove powered by propane - 2018 solar panels - 2019 replaced the 2 largest skylights - 2020 updated the toilets to ultra low flow ones -2021 new dishwasher and stove and added a pool table, DVD player and tapes and games for extra entertainment. -2022 installed StarLink, a 5G sattelite network. Speeds better than broadband, easily supports someone who needs to work from the cabin. - 2022 new sofa and carpeting -2023 upgraded the bathroom faucets and lock boxes This is not your average cabin in the woods! The house has a yard, an orchard and an adjacent pasture. The apple orchard has been neglected in previous years but we are working to bring it back. Last fall we had small apples on many of the trees. We hope to see more and bigger ones this year. There are wild berry bushes around the yard, and wildflowers in the field near the orchard. The host is not onsite, but she and a local caretaker are both available to solve any problems with the house 24/7. The host is happy to help you plan your stay in New Hampshire, whether it is driving/shopping tours or mountain trails or swimming holes or eating out. I love the view coming up the driveway: the house with that awesome porch and the mountains beyond. The house is cozy and comfortable. This is really a refuge from the daily craziness in my life. I feel refreshed when I leave even if I'm only there for a day. There is one neighbor nearby. You can see the roof of their house and the chimney from their yurt from the driveway. They are a nice family who greatly appreciate their privacy. A car is a must but this is a cyclist's dream. Country roads with enough hills to be interesting. Many routes have little traffic. The cabin in tucked into the White Mountain National Forest and you may be lucky enough to see deer or small animals in the pasture adjacent to the house. Look for the game trail beyond the orchard. While there are bears in the forest, we are strict about not cooking outside or putting trash outside so we don't attract them. Pets are not welcome at the cabin. it only takes one accident on a rug for every pet to want to mark there. The odors are very hard to remove from carpets and padding and even hardwood floors. so please leave your pets at home and enjoy an odor free stay. It's important to know that this is a log cabin in the forest. The best match will be with people who enjoy a rustic home in a country setting. The house has a well and a septic system. Either could be overwhelmed with heavy use. Please respect the limit of 8 guests and do not host parties. The fire pit must be used with caution especially during days when the fire risk is high. Always keep the fire small and contained and be sure that all embers are out before you leave it. The gas powered wood stove is also a fire risk. so do not leave it on for more than an hour. Ensure it is off before you leave the house. Never cook or warm food or liquids on it. Please no fireworks or ATVs or snowmobiles on the property. Note that no pets are permitted. Thank you!
