Special spot near town, dog friendly walled garden
Description
Unique & stylish 250 year stone dwelling with private south facing walled garden. Renovated and furnished with character and comfort a priority. We ❤️ dogs of all shapes and sizes 🐾. The Stonehouse is at the back of my house with its own entrance and own garden. Few steps to Newport Quay. Nearby is the famous Greenway between Westport & Achill. Bike hire is 5 min walk. Stroll by the river to shops, pubs & woods for dog walks. Bedroom (king bed) shower room, living/kit/dining (sofa bed for one) The space We kept the original facade of the building and completely remodelled the interior. It’s modern and comfortable and full of character and charm. We have lots of little extras to enhance your stay such as a record player and growing collection of vintage vinyl, a super Bluetooth speaker for sounds in the garden, stamped postcards of Newport ready to send (way nicer than a text!), tv for Netflix, Foxford Mills pillows, duvets, bed linen and throws. We have shed storage for bikes, wetsuits, fishing gear and suitcases. Our guests park off street in front of our side gate. You walk through this gate and across our lovely landscaped courtyard which is also shared with the main house. Front door of the Stone House is indicated on the photos. You enter into a little hall with a utility cupboard (washing machine and dryer), up a couple of steps to a landing with a bedroom (king sized bed) and a shower room. Then upstairs to the bright top floor which has an airy sitting room (with wall mounted gas fire) and kitchen / dining area. The sofa here is a sofa bed which while called a double is more suitable for one small adult or a child. All bedding and towels for the sofa bed are provided, just let me know on booking if they’re required. The kitchen has a 2 ring hob, combination microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge, nespresso machine. We dont have a main oven. The back door then leads you out to a lovely old walled south facing garden with a view over the river which is for the sole use of the guests. Nothing nicer on a sunny morning than to pour a freshly brewed coffee and read on one of our sheltered patios in the top garden against the backdrop of the beautiful old stone wall (part of the Newport House estate built 1710). You can keep an eye on the tide from your reading spot and enjoy a stroll around the Quay to watch the sun setting on the BlackOak river. We want our guests to be comfortable and relaxed and enjoy our beautiful part of the Wild Atlantic Way. Guest access Guests have sole access of the Stone House and the upper walled garden. You can also use the shared boathouse to store bikes, wetsuits, fishing gear etc, and suitcases. The lower landscaped courtyard occupies the area between the two houses and this is how you access your Airbnb. You will see one or two of us during your stay but we won’t disturb you! And of course our nosy dogs might say hello as you’re coming and going ! Other things to note We have two female dogs who may bark when you arrive but take no notice they get used to guests very quickly! We are dog friendly with the usual requests - they aren’t allowed on the bed or sofa, and we ask that they are dried off before coming in. Doggy towels are hanging up in the hall and if you need more please ask! We have pet bowls and poo bags and squeaky toys. Our doggy visitors love the Stone House ! However if your pooch is fond of digging holes this place probably isn’t suitable as we have a lot of flower beds. We provide a picnic set, beach towels and mats, and a cool box for trips out these are all in the guests area in the boathouse. Bikes and suitcases can be kept in our boathouse. For guests staying a week we provide a change of towels half way through. If you want to cycle the Great Western Greenway we are just a 5 minute walk to bike hire
