Description
Originally, the lodge was the kennel keeper’s houses and work rooms for the Gordon Castle dogs. It is historically important as the place the Gordon Setter was first bred. It is partially for this reason and partly due to the rare use of red sandstone in their construction that the Lodge is a Grade 1 listed building. The space Kennels Lodge, which was completed to a detailed and beautiful standard only opened it’s (new) doors to guests at the beginning of this year. It compromises of 7 double or twin bedrooms (all but 1 is en suite, however that bedroom has its own dedicated bathroom). There is plenty of room for everyone in Kennels lodge, including a bedroom with a its own external door which could afford a degree of privacy to a chef or au-pair. A house that sleeps so many of course needs to have an appropriate entertaining space for everyone to enjoy one another’s company. The large lounge area is perfect for just that, as it naturally flows into the Lodges very own Orangery. The Orangery is a bright and airy conservatory dining room that can seat up to 14 guests, and it truly is a wonderful space. The brand-new fitted kitchen, drying room and utility room ensure that the Lodge is more than equipped for up to 14 guests. Kennels Lodge is situated in a large forest and has extensive area for walking and exploring. It also has a generous, dog proof front garden. Despite having your own seclusion and privacy, the Lodge has good internet connection and is also very close to the Gordon Castle Walled Garden and the Gordon Castle fishing’s. There is ample parking for those who are driving up.
