Mahasu House is owned by Anil , a proud small town resident. He shakes his head in wonder when people talk of traffic, pollution and stress in big cities because he cannot imagine living away from the mountains. “Having settled in Simla in 1935, my grandfather built a hotel here in the late 60’s. Born a year later, I was brought up by my grandparents and have lived all my life in this beautiful mountain paradise. Apart from playing golf,cooking and walking, I love hosting people at Mahasu House" The space Exuding an old world charm, Mahasu House blends in beautifully with the panoramic surroundings of Mashobra. A romance of wood and stone, the interiors of the hotel is lovingly crafted in classical décor. Eco friendly measures have been adopted not only in design but also in use of local materials and resources. Mahasu House has 7 double rooms, each with en suite bathroom and verandah that serves as an outdoor sitting area. Spacious rooms (area 350 sq ft) with pine wood flooring, large picture windows, hand knotted rugs and rich furnishings provide the perfect ambience to relax and breathe in the surroundings. Guest will have access to Two suites. Guest access In continuation to the USP of personalized service, Mahasu House has no menu cards. All meals are prepared home style based on what each guest wishes to eat that day. Using only the freshest of local ingredients, the kitchen is equipped to cater to a variety of tastes and can rustle up divine meals at minimal notice. Indian, Asian & Western cuisines are available. Guests can enjoy their meals at the Sundeck, Gazebo, lawn or the indoor dining area. The expansive Sundeck offers a 180 degree view across the Himalayas and also overlooks the Shaali Tibba, which at (2867m) is the highest peak in the vicinity of Shimla. The Gazebo offers an open dining area with a fire place. The Lounge - This is an ideal place to relax with and unwind with a book, a drink or settle down to play cards or Mahjong. The Club Room - This houses the indoor entertainment area with a billiards table, table-tennis table, library, home theatre and bar-trolley. The Club Room opens out to the Apple Garden - a delightful place for a leisurely lunch, an evening barbeque by a log-fire, a game of croquet or just relaxation. Health Club - A fully equipped facility with gym, steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi. Children’s Room - The Attic contains the children’s play room with a host of toys, slides, play-tent, Sony play station etc. Laundry - Prompt in house laundry services ensure you can travel light. Other things to note Large windows and decks have been designed all around the house; including the bedrooms to help you soak in the beauty nature has to offer. We request you to keep an eye on small children in and around these spaces. Apart from televisions with Tata Sky connection in all the rooms and one in the Club-Room, we have also provided for lots of other in-house entertainment. We have a huge collection of books, movies and games - please feel free to use these with care. The interiors of the resort are a strictly non smoking area. Kindly step out onto one of our many decks or terraces should you wish to smoke. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in each room for your convenience. Tea and coffee ordered from the kitchen are charged as per the menu. We do not have a Menu Card for main meals as they are prepared as per the guests food preferences. Please inform us 2 hours prior to the meal time. In addition to main meals we have a small Snacks Menu with an interesting selection for those in between moments. A copy of the Snacks Menu is available in every room. Please feel free to walk in and request our cook to rustle up just the kind of sandwich or noodles that your children like. All main meals are served in the Dining Room. Breakfast - 8 am to 11 amLunch: 1 pm - 3 pmDinner: 8 pm - 10 pm You are welcome to invite non-resident guests to enjoy the Mahasu experience with you – including some great food, at the same charges mentioned below. Per person cost for meals: Set Lunch - Rs.700/- plus 5% taxes for adults. Rs. 300 for children under 5 yearsSet Dinner - Rs.700/- plus 5% taxes for adults. Rs. 350 for children under 5 years Kindly let us know one day in advance in case the visitors are likely to share a meal with you. Mahasu House does not serve alcoholic beverages. You may wish to carry your preferred alcohol for personal consumption only. Our regular check-in time is 2 pm and check-out time is 10 am. We would be happy to adjust these to suit your travel timings depending on the occupancy. An early check in should not be a problem unless the resort is full – in which case you are welcome to enjoy the common areas and facilities. In case of a late check-out we would be happy to offer you the option of an additional half day booking. Guest drivers can stay at the staff dormitory and eat staff meals, all at a cost of Rs. 250/- per day. We do not have any separate staying facilities for maids at Mahasu House.
