Description

A stunning renovation of a 100-year old Boathouse, this cabin sleeps two and features a full kitchen & bathroom. The Boathouse is situated right at the lake's edge and has a full glass front, deck with a grill to take advantage of unbeatable sunset views. You will also have a private dock and canoe. Perfect getaway for couples who are looking to explore or just unplug and spend a few days relaxing. Wapanacki is dog-friendly! Please see info about our pet fee in the notes below. Sorry-no cats. The space The Boathouse has been designed using an eclectic combination of new and upcycled materials. Care has been taken to preserve the original wooden vaulted ceiling by insulating the roof from the outside. A Jotul electric stove will keep you cozy in the winter months. You'll enjoy lake views from bed or when you stretch out on one of the two long couches. The kitchen has all the basics you need to prepare meals, including tons of counter space which doubles as space for eating. We provide fresh linens, blankets, and towels. We have multiple cabins on property, and The Boathouse is the most private onsite. Guests have a private dock with a canoe, a campfire pit for your exclusive use, and a gas grill on the deck. (Note: canoe, dock, and gas grill are seasonal - available late spring to late fall) Nestled in the hills of the Northeast Kingdom, Wapanacki was originally founded as a summer camp in 1938. Established as a camp for blind children, and later run by the Girl Scouts, Wapanacki has been reborn as a four-season retreat. Guest access Wapanacki is comprised of 230 acres of woodland, plus a 25-acre private lake for swimming and non-motorized boats. There are miles of trails to explore, perfect for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, and hiking and biking in the summer. There is no Wifi IN the cabin, but we do have a "wifi zone" on property. It is reliable for calls & getting online, but NOT for streaming movies or Zoom calls. Kayaks and canoes are available at the beach for all guests, but The Boathouse has a private dock, canoe, and fire pit just for you. You will have access to a shared gas grill on the porch of the main clubhouse, located at main camp; there is also a gas grill on the deck of The Boathouse late spring to early fall. The porch has picnic tables late spring to early fall. This is also where our Wifi zone is located. The interior of the clubhouse is private and you will not have access. Other things to note We have multiple cabins for rent at Wapanacki, so you may have the entire property to yourself, but other renters may be there too. Get in the camp spirit and say hello! If you are interested in coming with friends and renting more than one cabin, please let us know! NOTE: We do have a wi-fi "zone" on property but please be prepared to be unplugged while you are in your cabin. NOTE: To those bringing DOGS: We do encourage you to bring your dog, but please note that we do have a fee of $100 per dog. We ask you to leave your pet fee in cash on departure. Sorry, we do not allow cats. WINTER: The roads to camp are plowed by the city of Hardwick and they do a great job! Our main camp road is plowed by our awesome caretaker. That said, we STRONGLY recommend having a 4-wheel drive vehicle when visiting in the winter months. The Boathouse sits RIGHT on the lake, which means it's completely PRIVATE. However, it also means that there is a short path from the parking area down a hill to the cabin. We try our best to pack the snow when we can, but it's Vermont and during the winter it snows often, you should be prepared to "hike in/hike out"; as no one lives on property, we do not shovel the path. For those who plan to snowshoe: Please stay on the snow while wearing snowshoes; do NOT attempt to walk on the stairs or porches of any building while wearing snowshoes or other shoe attachments with spikes such as “Yak Tracks”.
