The Old Dower House

The Old Dower House is a beautiful 16th century property situated in the heart of the peaceful and picturesque village of Marbury which lies on the Shropshire/Cheshire border and very close to the border of North Wales. It enjoys spectacular views over Marbury Mere and the surrounding rolling countryside and is a perfect base to explore this beautiful part of the world. The space We are delighted to offer you our Lower Mere Room which is on the ground floor and is accessed through its own front door and private garden overlooking beautiful St Michael's Church. The room has undergone a complete refurbishment and has been tastefully decorated in Farrow and Ball colours. It has a modern country feel but retains original features that reflect the history of The Old Dower House. The king sized bed is incredibly comfortable, using only the best quality mattress and 100% natural bedding for an amazing nights sleep and lazy lie-ins. We also supply alternative duvets and pillows for allergy sufferers. The en-suite is fresh and bright with a large power shower for you to luxuriate in. You will find it hard not to relax with our 100% cotton towels, fluffy robes and luxury toiletries. The room also contains a flat screen TV with freeview, a silent mini-fridge containing fresh milk, complimentary mineral water and breakfast items (if you choose to dine in your room), a selection of tea and ground coffee, free WiFi and a hairdryer. An iron and ironing board will be made available to you upon request. Guest access At The Old Dower House, the emphasis is on luxury, relaxation and delicious food! Whilst we offer a room only rate, we have an extensive and delicious breakfast menu which is served in the Range Room (we can forward our sample menu and prices to you). We also encourage you to stay for at least two nights to take full advantage of the facilities and surrounding area. We would love you to experience the countryside to the fullest, whether it be from the comfort of your room, the upstairs guest lounge that is accessed up a private stairway, or perhaps you wish to put on your walking boots or wellies and enjoy one of the many local walks. We love our garden and invite you to have a wander around or take a minute on the swing seat in the veggie patch. During your stay Private and quiet, your room is tucked away from the main part of the house but we will be on hand at any time should you need any help and to ensure your stay is perfect. Other things to note Our guest lounge is full of character and charm. Easily accessible up a private stairway and directly above your room, it is available exclusively to you, although we may come in from time to time just to throw a log in the woodburner.
