Joglo Ago, a beautiful family-friendly villa

A unique traditional wooden Javanese house (Joglo) set in lush green private gardens in a village, situated between the city of Jogjakarta and the hill resort of Kaliurang on the slopes of Mount Merapi. At an elevation of about 700m, we enjoy a cool climate. Our water is pure, coming from our own well. The modern bathrooms and kitchen have hot and cold water. The Joglo sleeps 8 maximum. The village and nearby river are great for walking, with stunning views of Merapi volcano. The space The Joglo has 4 massive teak columns and high carved ceiling which form the spiritual centre of the house. Built over 120 years ago, the Joglo has been lovingly restored with a very large living room, 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There is an antique Javanese bed in the living room as an extra bed which can sleep 2 people. There are ample relaxing areas in the living room and the front and rear verandas. The kitchen is fully equipped, with cooker and fridge. Mineral water, tea and coffee are always provided. Close by there are many reasonably priced places for lunch or an evening meal. Guest access Guests have access to the whole house and its private gardens, which include a walled barbeque terrace, black orchids, a fishpond and many trees with birdlife. There is ample paved parking space in front of the house. Other things to note The wet season is from November to May, and being at an elevation of 700m we do get heavy rains during this time. We are about 30 minutes drive from the old Jogja International airport.
