Stay and play, the pool is open and the water feels oh so nice! Take the slide or cliff jump, it’s 10 feet deep. You’ll be sleeping in a blasted out rock where the cave rooms are cool, a good break from the summer heat. Experience homestead life from the tree swing over the cool grass, or treat the horses to a carrot, see the stars from the roof, learn how the rock house was built and how the water runs our lights! Once you cross the mote, you’ve made it! Welcome to this side of the creek! Worthy views into the heart of The Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument await on the slickrock benches surrounding The Bedrock Homestead, also near the back door to Capitol Reef National Park. The Bedrock Homestead is a veritable blue zone imagined and grown by your host, Grant Johnson. Created from the landscape, the blasted-out rock house with its multiple cave entrances serves as your off-grid dwelling. Enjoy a glimpse into homesteading life, surrounded by beauty and solitude and the most incredible dark sky! Your west end of the cave has two private rooms with an extra room joining (and a private bathroom and shower below), along with a private patio entrance and access to the roof. The private road is dirt and you need 4-wheel-drive to access the last 1 mile driveway to the cave. When parking, please don’t block the road, or travel past the homestead to the private ranches. Hiking is on the surrounding cliffs. You made it— I’m happy to show you around, but give you time initially to settle in. Thanks for taking the adventure. You're welcome to hike on top of the house! Go a little further, to find beautiful vistas of the surrounding mountain ranges, slick rock country and beautiful Navajo sandstone domes. Enjoy the serenity here. You'll be staying off-grid, away from noise and light pollution, for sunrise, sunset, or stargazing. You do need 4 wheel drive or All-wheel drive to reach the Cave. Please enter Deer Creek Campground into your GPS. The 1 mile driveway is made of bedrock and solid, so don't worry about getting stuck. Please close any gates behind you that you find closed. They are unlocked. Unfortunately, we can’t allow pets and service animals, thanks for your understanding.
