Villa Mimpi has it all: Large established grounds and gardens overflowing with orchids, rice paddy viewing terrace, large pool, sun beds, Timorese bale, open plan living area, modern kitchen, air-conditioned bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. Guests keep returning and so will you. A perfect couple's hideaway: our stunning private two bedroom villa is set in a large, lush tropical garden above the rice fields of Penestanan. Fully walled for privacy and security this is your retreat to enjoy, perhaps as a romantic interlude with your loved one. Villa Mimpi, built with devotion and attention to detail as our second home, is furnished throughout with exquisite recycled teak pieces, charming statuary and art work. We love to share it with our friends and paying guests but in order to keep the villa at the highest standard we allow no more than four guests and no children. A relaxing and rejuvenating break awaits you - laze on the thai-style cushions in the thatched gazebo watching the koi glide languidly in the pond, swim in the sparkling pool, siesta peacefully on the daybed in the living area or read a book on the terrace perched above the rice fields. This is your villa to enjoy in complete seclusion. The villa is situated 300 metres down a path off the main Penestanan road, just where it opens up to rice fields at a junction of several small streams - part of the World Heritage listed Subak irrigation system. Antique carved doors inside the compound reveal a terrace perched above these rice fields. The terrace is roofed and has comfortable furniture for enjoying meals or sundowners and is a wonderful place to watch the local people going about their daily lives. When you are ready for cloistered time just shut the doors and leave the world outside. Penestanan is a lively farming community with many good restaurants, artists' studios, galleries and magical spas. There are endless small paths to explore through the village and surrounding rice fields. Ubud town centre is a 5 minute taxi ride or 20 minute walk away. Cycling is an ideal way to discover the quiet back-roads to neighbouring villages. Villa facilities included: Two en-suite bedrooms with fans and air conditioning: One with a king size bed One with a king size bed that converts, hotel style, to two single beds Large furnished open living area with: Sound system for your personal music LCD TV, DVD player and a large selection of DVDs Small library Free WiFi and the use of a mobile phone with local SIM card Western kitchen, gas cooktop, convection microwave, large fridge Terrace with panoramic rice field views Thatched gazebo Laundry with large automatic washing machine Daily villa service Breakfast of fresh fruit, eggs, deli bread, jams, tea or coffee Unlimited drinking water, tea and coffee Putu, the smiling roomboy, will meet you when you arrive and carry your cases down the path. He will reappear to make your breakfast at a pre-arranged time, discreetly clean and tidy the villa and pool. Ubud is located 35 km northeast of Bali's International Airport. It is attractive to tourists for a variety of reasons. On a relatively small island with a horde of attractions, Ubud is centrally located, There are plenty reasons why Ubud was recently voted the most fascinating city of Asia by Condé Nast Traveler. The Ubud area is around two to three hundred meters above sea level and surrounded by rice fields, which makes it noticeably cooler than other tourist destinations in Bali. Neighbouring villages are well known for unique bamboo crafts and furniture, wood and stone carving and many other crafts. Ubud is famous for its regular nightly dance performances, which are part of the traditional culture. Hindu-Balinese ceremonies take place almost daily, especially in the European summer, which is the driest and coolest season here. One reason Ubud is popular today is because it is the best place in Bali to break out of the tourist mode and get off the beaten path, although it is far from undiscovered. Many tourists simply base their entire stay here and travel to other destinations from Ubud. Accommodation in Ubud is also somewhat more reasonably priced than in the beach towns of Bali. But atmosphere is perhaps the major attraction. One visitor summed it up this way: Kuta is madness, Sanur is sterile, and Nusa Dua is culturally isolated; Ubud is the place to go. The villa is only a 20 minute walk from central Ubud or 5 minutes by car. There are lots of drivers available close to the villa.
