Description
Rustic converted barn 4 bedrooms, big kitchen, dining, living room, 2 level deck, fire pit. Family/friends gatherings are welcome! Big field for dogs & kids to play. Sleeps 8. Good for playing acoustic music, board games, heart to heart conversations and deep sleep. Hancock Harris Center, Norway Pond, Hornberg Brewery, Fiddleheads. Nearby restaurants, art, live music, yoga, fancy shops, swimming, biking, skiing. Location not really suited for loud late night parties. The space This post and beam barn was built in 1850. Comfortable but also features areas where you can see pegs, notch & beam construction. My grandparents renovated the first floor in the 1950s, putting a ceiling on the hayloft to create a foyer and turning the horse stalls into bedrooms. This is where my father's first jazz bands rehearsed for their summer tours. My grandfather was a bookworm and even though we got rid of hundreds of books, there are still few hundred lining the walls. Over the years we updated the kitchen, added a full bathroom but tried to keep the rustic hardware and general layout. There is a fire pit out back near a meadow where the peeper frogs will sing to you all night. Guest access All heated living areas available: Kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, deck, backyard field, all common areas are accessible. Basement and upper attic are off limits. Driveway is crushed stone. Motorcycles - bring kickstand pad. Anyone with mobility issues should contact host. There are raised thresholds in certain areas. I can send photos as each person is different. There are stairs on back deck and a raised threshold at the front door. Other things to note Message me for additional day-guests and overflow space details. Pets are welcome. Let the host know if your pet is a high shedder. Sometimes pets who don’t travel well can cause damage to walls, doors and floors due to anxiety. Smokers must smoke outside and please put butts in a trash container. Recycling is mandatory in Hancock and we don't have trash pickup. We deliver to the town dump. So any efforts towards following the trash rules are greatly appreciated.
