Description
The Gardener’s Bothy dates back to the early 1800’s and has now been lovingly restored ensuring the charm and character of this period cottage have not been lost. Original exposed beams and Gothic door reflect a different time and contrast well with the modern interior design, which uses subtle tones of green reflecting the natural surroundings. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a stunning granite work surface and the original flag stone floors which flow from the kitchen into the sitting room. Underfloor heating ensures the Bothy is warm and cosy whatever the weather. In the sitting room there is a comfortable sofa, two arm chairs, a woollen rug, small tables and a Charnwood wood burning stove, the colour of which is in keeping with the subtle tones of the room. There are numerous books including those of local interest and those with a gardening theme. There is a dining table with Eames chairs. The dining table extends to accommodate six people, if required. French windows lead out to a sitting area with a bistro table and chairs, whilst the kitchen door opens onto the second patio with table and chairs to seat six. Upstairs are two bedrooms. In the first the dark wood of the ceiling timbers is reflected in the beautiful polished wood of the super-king sleigh bed on which, to compliment the delicate greens, delicate shades of purple and lilac are introduced in the cover and cushions. In the second bedroom the colours are of gentler shades, with two attractive brass and cream twin beds and tones of green in the covers. The Bothy is set in beautiful surroundings, with both views through the beech copse to the park and woodland beyond and views to the outer courtyard. As well as the private patios guests also have access to the 12 acres of private parkland. The Bothy also has access to "The Treatment Studio" where you can indulge in a range of complementary therapy treatments. After a hard day walking in the hills or just the need to relax then we offer a range of massages, including hot stones, facial and nail treatments. Guests are greeted on arrival and for newcomers to the area an introduction is given on walks, restaurants and local attractions. From the cottage door, walk towards the beech copse and meadow for a stroll along the canal or up onto the peaks of the Brecon Beacons. Within walking distance are a number of local dog friendly pubs serving great food and a number of award winning restaurants are reachable within 30 minutes. Just 5 minutes off the A40 The Bothy is easy to find and only just over 3 hours from London. Cars are parked in a dedicated private Car Park which also has an electric charging point.
