A Nature Lovers' Retreat

Our 1920s cottage is at the gateway to over 30,000 acres of nature preserves but also within 20 minutes of historic Venice and beautiful beaches along the Gulf of Mexico. A kayak/canoe launch on the Myakka River is only minutes away as are wilderness hiking and biking experiences. Rental companies for recreational toys are not far away. A private, verdant garden surrounds the cottage. Our place is good for couples, small families and solo adventurers. We provide "contactless service". The space The cottage is 780 s.f.. Bedrooms have wall-to-wall carpeting, kitchen and bath are tiled and front living area has hardwood floors. Many windows provide lots of natural light, with views to the garden. The cottage currently has 1 queen and 1 single bed in separate bedrooms; a full-sized futon is in the common living area. Host recommendation is for 2-3 adults, or 2 adults with 1-2 children as there is only 1 bathroom. An under-the-sink reverse osmosis water purifying system has just been added. No more plastic bottles! The cottage is not for everyone. Amenities are basic but comfortable. During this time, we allow 24 hours between bookings for thorough cleaning. We pride ourselves on providing sparkling accommodations, as previous guests have indicated, even before the pandemic, our cottage is very clean. Guest access Guests have a completely fenced garden area and a private entrance. Other things to note Total taxes of 12% will be added to the rate. Airbnb collects all tax due to state of Florida (6%) and a discretionary sales surtax (1%) for Sarasota County and its local tax of 5%. Airbnb distributes the tax to the respective authorities.
