Perfect location for walks on the Downs or along the Ouse valley. 2 miles from the historic market town of Lewes and 4 miles from Newhaven Ferry. The wonderful coastline of Seaford is a 10 min train journey. Our house has a wood -burning stove and home-made bread is included in the breakfast, which can be provided in the garden, if wished. The space It is a large, pleasant, light room. There is a comfortable double bed, desk and chair, wi-fi, heated towel rail, television and radio available in the room. There is an extremely pleasant view out on to the village and Downs. Guest access Their room and the large garden with far ranging views. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room. The toilet/bathroom is situated on the ground floor and the guest room is on the first floor. During your stay A welcoming tea/coffee. I have up to date leaflets and information of attractions and places of interest in the local area and an up to date 'Viva Lewes' - what's currently happening in Lewes. Recommended eating places. Breakfast times to suit the guests. Other things to note Walkers and cyclists can step straight out of the village on to the Downs. And vice versa from the SDWay. There are no shops or a pub (which why it is so peaceful here) but there are two pubs, serving good food, a mile either side of Iford, in the neighbouring villages - the 'Abergavenny arms' in Rodmell, and the 'Juggs (a fourteenth century Pub) in Kingston. There are footpaths to both pubs which take about 25/30 min walk across the fields. Lewes has a variety of eating places to recommend. For those arriving by train there is a bus 123 ( Compass bus line - for times) which stops outside the station but it is infrequent and the last pick up is 5.46. There is a taxi rank outside the station. If I'm available at the time, I'm also happy to pick up/ drop off to and from the station. There is also a footpath from Lewes to Iford - a 40/45 min walk. There is a small, simple Norman church (11th Century) in Iford. It is open during the day and well worth visiting. VIrginia Wolf's house ( in Rodmell) is open to visitors in the spring/ summer months Charleston ( The Bloomsbury group's residence) is a 20 min drive or 3 hr walk and also open to visitors spring and summer. Well worth a visit Brighton is 15 mins by train from Lewes or 20 mins by bus and houses the Brighton May festival during that month. Charleston hosts the authors/ speakers festival during May. Glyndebourne is a 25 min drive from us.
